Im very proud to see this one go back to its owner.
Total of 6 week working time from start to finish.
Off grid camper with all the amenities of home on the road.
It was real pleasure to create this little home on wheels from what was once an Iceland delivery van!
I was given the full go ahead with my own ideas and which materials to use. Colours and themes were discussed with the customer throughout the build so I knew I was on the right track to create an amazing van. It was great to be trusted with this responsibility and have full access to get creative mixing styles of modern and rustic whilst still keeping the quality I’m known for.
It was a nice surprise for the owner when opening the doors for the first time.
Smiles all round😊
Layout.
Rather than the fixed bed layout that you usually see in conversions, I came up with the idea to make a flip center section that allows access though the back of the van.
This created a nice flow throughout when the van is being used during the day or for transporting/ storing a bike or other large, long items.
Loads of worktop space to accommodate any everyday items.
- Fully off/on grid functionality powered via 350 watt solar, 240v charger and house battery relay to the 280 amp deep cycle leisure battery.
- Fused with midi fuses rated to each output.
- Electric 12v, two way sky lighted fan on roof for extracton and lovely breeze in summer.
- Diesel heater plumbed into the main fuel line of van providing instant heat in those cold winter months.
- Fully insulated and sound proofed around all vital parts, wheel wells and bulkhead.
- High quality non slip, patterned vinyl used throughout the main section and studded vinyl in the garage section.
- Various compartments, draws and hideaways to store everyday items.
- Dometic gas oven with separate gas locker with drop vents.
- Large sink with fully extendable shower head and powerful main tap
providing hot and cold water.
- 75L fresh water tank.
- 80L slimline grey waste which is underslung under the van and has armour added to the underside of tank to protect it from any loose road debris or high points when off road.
- 12v fridge freezer.
- Various 240v sockets and 12v around the van.
- 1000v Inverter for that power off grid.
- Gas boiler providing hot water is mounted on rear door can be plug/plumbed in to be opened when in use. Boiler flue is fixed through the body of the backdoor to minimise c02 kickback into the van.
Safety kick plate at the bottom prevents pipework geting damaged when door is shut.
Safety 6mm thick aluminium plate was added to protect the flue and any from materials touching.
- Separate mini gas locker with drop vent so can be used independently from the oven.
- Safety plastic drip tray added under the sink, so if there was ever an issue with plumbing it would easily be detected and not fail the electric components on the fridge freezer underneath.
A lot of safety aspects were put into the van to get the job done correctly with correct fittings and procedures.
There were a few problems I encountered on the van, such as a leek through old parking sensors/beacon on the roof that was not known before as it had been dry stored since arrival.
Also the side sliding door not opening from the inside.
I fixed both issues so the build could continue.
I really feel I pulled some tricks out the bag as well as learing alot on this build and now feel extra confident with my ability to provide the service that’s expected with any of the builds I do.
Big thank you to all my local suppliers,
will be singing you thanks personally.
And big thank you to my partner who brought me my lunches and dinners to the van everyday for the past 6 weeks.
Thank you for letting me dedicate my time on this project due to deadlines. Love you millions.
One happy customer who will be loving her future adventures in her newly named
'Mercy'.
To many happy adventures.
