And that’s that
Back up and running but there’s an alarming amount of blow by into the crank case.
It was always 50/50 but on a small engine like this it was worth giving it a try.

This Fiat 500 was in for a non start fault .
No compression across the cylinders .

Timing was fine but it was suspected to be head gasket
Once the head was removed there was visual marks on the bores which I didn’t like the look of .
I did an in situ hone on the cylinders which isn’t ideal but better than nothing.
I left fluid in the cylinders overnight which was still there in the morning so it was time to see if we would get away with a simple gasket change.

In was a Renault Megane dci for full service, cambelt and water pump.
Lovely car and for once a job went well and didn’t need any additional work doing.

Next was a Fiat coupe 20vt with a nasty oil leak .
This was from around the filter area so I replaced the oil filter housing seal

I spent longer cleaning the oil from the car than the job itself but That did the trick and it’s no longer leaking .

A few weeks ago I was asked to make some pipework for this lovely piece of machinery.

I wasn’t even born when this car was made so it was lovely to be involved in.
I went to the customers house to take some measurements and then got busy making the tooling .

Full custom silicone pipe kit manufactured in house and installed.

Todays job was to take a look at a very poorly Smokey BMW 120d
Many bodges on this one so it’ll be in later for rectifications.

Then it was onto the orders, 3 more fuel pressure regulator pipes sold for Fiat coupes, 2 clutch kits, 3 alternators, 4 sets of heater matrix seals, 4 diff seals, a turbo and a full coolant kit for an Alfa 3.2 GTA.

These Alfa kits have been one of the more popular sellers over the last few years averaging 2-3 kits a month .
Typically the market is USA, Australia and New Zealand but this one is the 5th to be sold to Japan where many are still living.

Last job started at 5pm which was a service, timing belt and water pump on a yellow Fiat coupe plus .

I had a call at 7am from a customer to say his Jaguar wouldn’t start .

Once on site it was clear from the scent under bonnet something electrical had decided to commit su***de.
As the ignition wouldn’t illuminate and the emergency bypass for the park and brake wouldn’t work I couldn’t recover it at that stage so I had to come back.

I jacked the car up, removed the undertray and isolated the alternator .
That got it running long enough to get it back to the workshop.

These Jaguar XFS’s do like to get through alternators from time to time .
This is the 3.0 Twin turbo diesel and it’s an absolute joy to work on as you can see from the state of my hands .

New alternator, auxiliary belt, and coolant, clear faults test ok.

Final job was another fiddly one which was to make 3 Kawasaki 500 jet ski pipes in blue for a customer in London who races them.
This is number 3 out of the worst pipes to make and it always sends a shiver when orders come through but the end result looks lovely.

Today’s job was a paint correction on a 2017 Renault Megane .
The drivers door in particular had been painted and there was quite a few runs in the clear coat which let the overall appearance of the car down.
Whilst I was the there I ended up flatting the complete door due to the orange peel .

A few bird dirt marks that required flatting and polishing on the rear spoiler and finally a mark on the Bonnet which I did a spot repair on.

Long hard day but the car is looking lovely now 😊

If you’ve ever wondered what every single pipe looks like from a Fiat coupe 20v turbo then this is it.
A complete set sold to an owner who’s lucky enough to get to fit them all to his coupe 😎

It’s taken me three weeks to build the kit as every pipe takes an hour with some taking 3-4 hours.
Given I only allocate one hour a day for pipework sales it can be quite a marathon .

The kit includes :-

Full 13 piece coolant kit
3 piece crank breather
Rear plenum breather 2 piece
Inlet donuts x5
4 piece boost kit
Turbo oil return pipe
2 piece Intake kit
Fuel pressure regulator pipe

I was asked to replicate an exact fuel pressure regulator pipe for a Fiat coupe turbo…no problem 😊
Other orders were E36 bmw, focus rs, Land Rover td4 and Ford kuga .

A 2017 Renault Megane dci was in for a full service, front/rear brakes, timing belt, water pump and to tweek the power from 110bhp to 135bhp

The Ford connect van I recovered last week had a failed turbo.
This was replaced, the engine was serviced and I also fitted new front brakes and a front wheel bearing .

A rear light fault on a mini which needed
the FRM resetting and the connections re crimping for the lights.

A bmw 1 series that had a terrible parasitic battery drain .
This required a battery reprogram, and cleaning of earth points to sort.

I’ve got some nice big projects coming to an end over the next few days on various Italian cars so keep an eye on the page .
