The Abbey is a beautiful place to visit, please respect that it is not only a stunning building and grounds it is a home as well. Please don’t spoiled it and keep your furry friends on their leads. There are plenty of places you can let your dogs off around the island. 🐶🏝️

Good morning from Quarr Abbey

We have long welcomed dogs on leads to Quarr Abbey, with the vast majority of our dog owners respecting the abbey, staff and other visitors.

So it’s with a heavy heart we have to write this post reminding some dog owners that when visiting the abbey of the following;

Dogs must be on leads, the only exception to this is the public bridle way where dogs can be off a lead but must be under control. On all other foot paths, grounds, roads and car parks dogs must be on leads.

It is not acceptable to verbally abuse or ignore our staff when they request that a dog is put on a lead.

There is a waste bin provided on the footpath for poo bags , it is not acceptable to leave poo bags on benches, around the grounds, or putting them in residents rubbish bins, or not to clear up after your dog.

While we appreciate this is a small minority that this applies to, we are concerned in the increase in this anti-social behaviour by some dog owners, that spoils enjoyment for others and is a risk to wildlife.

Thank you for your support.
