Another non runner back on the road again.

After a bit of investigation it was clear that the head gasket had gone on this classic SL.

Luckily the head was salvageable by Cambridge rebores and a bit of adjustment on the timing we have managed to get this running as good as new again. Mercedes Benz also still have most of the parts we needed available to buy new to get this up and running again including a new oil filter housing that a previous mechanic had stripped all the threads out of leaving a lovely oil leak everywhere it went.

What an incredible machine. Only in for an MOT but our bay is suitable for low vehicles and we take the same care with any vehicle whether it's GT3 RS or 20 year old Aygo.

Our MOT bay is approved for class 4 only but it is class 7 ready which means we can fully prep your larger van for MOT and then run it up to our friends at JPS motors for its annual MOT.

A little bit of luck on this one for the customer.
Recovered here by the AA as a non runner due to suspected timing issues.
We quickly identified the timing was indeed out enough to stop it running, luckily it still had good compression on all cylinders so no need for a full head rebuild, so new timing gear and a full service later and it's back on the road hopefully for a few more years.
