Southsea Remembrance Service It has now grown to become one of the largest acts of remembrance on the South Coast, regularly attracting over 1000 motorcycles of all sizes and descriptions.

Southsea Remembrance Service is an annual event that allows the motorcycle community and wider public to gather together to join the nation in observing 2 minutes on Remembrance Sunday and raise funds for the Poppy Appeal. This fully inclusive event was initially established in 2010 by the RBL Riders branch (Hampshire) to allow the local motorcycle community to gather each year on Remembrance Sunday. Everyone is welcome, whether on a motorcycle or not; organisations are encouraged to participate and lay a wreath as part of the service.

Southsea Remembrance Service and Portsmouth Ride of Remembrance are both veteran led events.

The act of Remembrance is at the very heart of what we do and why we do it.

This event has always been and will always be free to attend. No tickets, no registration, no badges or patches.

It is open to everyone, but please leave your politics at home. This is not the place.

It is not about who you ride in with or who you park next to. Bring your friends, your parents, children and dogs.

Respect, Dignity, Remembrance.

I will be sharing a few updates in the lead up to the events, please keep an eye on this page and share the info to anyone who may wish to join us.

It might not be the nicest of days outside today, but the weather is looking good for us this remembrance Sunday.

Today, Tuesday 15th September, marks Battle of Britain Day and the 86th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

We remember the young men of the RAF who took to the skies in 1940, facing overwhelming odds to defend our freedom. Their courage, determination and sacrifice changed the course of history.

Their courage, our freedom.
Lest we forget.

It was on this day in 1945 when Japan officially signed the act of unconditional surrender – bringing about an end to the Second World War.

After six long years of conflict, there was relief and celebration with parties and parades taking place in the streets.

But the human cost had been great, with the war against Japan claiming over 90,000 British casualties.

Many waited months to be reunited with loved ones they hadn’t seen for years.

Today, we remember the serving personnel from Britain and across the Commonwealth who served and sacrificed so much for the freedoms we hold today.
