Apologies for not updating the site for some time. This is due to our Minx being away having a full exterior restoration. She is now back home and looking great.
A great deal of rust was found and cut out resulting in a lot of new metal being fabricated and welded into place. This process also replaced a lot of body filler that was used in previous attempts to make good.
The 68-year-old cellulose paint was also looking sad, flat, and pitted. Some of the panels had been blown in with previous repairs resulting in colour inconsistently in aeras.
The chrome trim was also not looking its best, so while everything was taken off, we also had that restored.
Hopefully we have resolved the overheating issue with a new radiator that matches the original one. The old one was found to be bunged up. The water was only going around the sides and not through the vanes, so not being cooled by the fan as much as it should have been. Driving it back home the temperature gauge was lower than I ever remember.
Other replacements include new front side lights, water and ventilator hoses, and tyres. Some of the old wiring was not in good condition, and that has also been replaced.
Wheel arches and the underneath has had rust and anti-corrosion treatment to help keep it all good for the next 70 years!
We will post some photos of the restoration being carried out, but for the time being this is the result of the hard work. Hope you like it!
