With the end of the season approaching, now is the time to arrange to have your outboard engine serviced and winterised. Springtime is manic for servicing, with many customers bringing their engine in at the first sign of decent weather to find the carb gummed up with old fuel and the water passages blocked with salt.
Think about it, it’s far better to leave your outboard over winter with all the salt water flushed out, fresh oil and grease, clean and with the carbs fully drained and any fuel in the tank and lines stabilised or drained off.
If you are local to Plymouth, get in touch as soon as you know you are ready to lay up your outboard and treat it to a service which includes winterising so that in the spring you can start off on the right foot instead of pulling that pull cord until your hands blister and swearing 100 times at your outboard.

Been a very busy few months with a constant stream on engines coming through, a few observations:-
1. Aftermarket, customer supplied,cheap Chinese parts can be more trouble than they are worth
2. Never throw a removed part away until the engine is back up and running
3. Despite the organisation, storage and investment in stock, it’s still the old gash box that gets you out the pooh 🤣

A couple of engines ready to go home just enjoying some Devon sunshine. Johnson 35hp had a day or 2 underwater (salt) and is now lovely, for sure that wouldn’t be the case with a modern EFI 🤣. Mariner 40hp needed a 100h/1y service and is as good as gold. Happy Days

Lovely condition Tohatsu MFS20C enjoying some Devon weather before going back to her owner, serviced, rectifier kit fitted and tested (thanks again Cambridge Outboards Ltd for the sensibly priced spares with awesome delivery speed 👍)

Mercury 2.2 and Force 3hp back with their owners after a service today, just awaiting a trim motor for a Yamaha F20 which is arriving tomorrow so she can go back to her owner then it’s digging into a spanking condition Tohatsu MFS 20C

Mariner 9.9 going back to her owner tomorrow after a crafty repair on the gearbox casing that would have otherwise written off the engine. Thanks Cambridge Outboards Ltd for your timely spares and spot on pricing. She now runs like a dream.

Mariner 3.3 resurrected after a long time sat idle and a few “skipped” services. Rydlyme saved the day and cleared out all the water passages without having to disassemble the head. Seized bolts were my nemesis on this one but we got there with a sensible cost to the customer.
