Hill Assist can be very handy IF you use it correctly. BUT it can also go wrong if you don’t get it correct.
Not all cars have it and if it does some cannot switch it off.

🚗👻 Ever Been Stuck in a “Ghost” Traffic Jam? 👻🚗

You’re driving along happily when suddenly traffic slows to a crawl… then, just as mysteriously, it clears up with no accident, roadworks, or obvious cause in sight.

This is known as a ghost traffic jam (sometimes called a phantom traffic jam).

🔹 It often starts when one driver brakes slightly.
🔹 The driver behind reacts and brakes a little more.
🔹 This ripple effect travels backwards through the traffic.
🔹 Before long, vehicles further back may have to stop completely.

As a driving instructor, I teach pupils that smooth driving is not only safer but also helps keep traffic flowing.

✅ Maintain a safe following distance.
✅ Look well ahead and anticipate hazards.
✅ Avoid unnecessary braking and harsh acceleration.
✅ Stay calm and patient in slow-moving traffic.

By driving smoothly and leaving plenty of space, you can help reduce the chances of these frustrating traffic waves forming.

Remember: sometimes the biggest cause of congestion isn’t an accident or roadworks—it’s simply the way we react to the vehicles around us.

🚘 Drive smoothly, think ahead, and help keep traffic moving.

Show Me Tell Me is part of the practical driving test.
7 Show Me questions
14 Tell Me questions
During your practical driving test you will be asked one of each.

One tell me question at the beginning of the test before you drive off
One show me question whilst driving the car to demonstrate your ability to maintain control of the car whilst carry out the use of the specific control asked of you from the examiner.

Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking

🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

To get the best out of your car’s air conditioning in hot weather, keep your windows up while the A/C is running.
Driving with the windows open creates aerodynamic drag, which forces your engine to work harder and reduces fuel efficiency.

Follow this quick step-by-step method to cool down your boiling car as efficiently as possible:

1. Flush the Hot Air (Before Driving)When you first get into a baking car, the air inside is hotter than the air outside.Open the windows completely.
Turn the A/C on to the lowest temperature and highest fan speed.Make sure the A/C is set to pull in fresh air (not recirculate), so it pushes the trapped, superheated air out of the cabin.

2. Close the Windows & Switch to Recirculate. After a minute or two of driving (once the worst of the heat has escaped), roll your windows up.
Press the air recirculation button (usually an icon of a car with an arrow looping inside it). This stops the A/C from pulling in blazing hot air from outside and instead recycles the already-cooled air inside the cabin, making it much colder.

3. Direct the Vents UpwardPoint the dashboard vents upward and toward the roof. Because cold air sinks and hot air rises, directing the air upward helps it circulate and cools the entire cabin much faster.
Helpful TipsStart driving immediately: Car A/C compressors run faster and cool more effectively when the engine is revving on the move. Avoid letting the car idle on your driveway just to cool it down.
Check your filter: If your A/C isn't blowing very hard, your cabin air filter might be dirty and clogged with debris. Checking or replacing this will massively improve airflow
