This time it was an EGR valve replacement on a Ford Transit, diagnosing and replacing a faulty unit to get the van running as it should again. The old valve had definitely seen better days, and the new part was fitted and ready to get this Transit back out earning its keep.
Modern diesel engines rely heavily on components like the EGR system to run efficiently and keep emissions under control, so when they start causing issues it's important to get them sorted properly rather than masking the fault.

Another big job completed last week – clutch replacement on a Renault Master van.

The fault was traced to a failed concentric slave cylinder, which meant the gearbox had to come out to carry out the repair. Anyone who's worked on these knows they're not the smallest or lightest gearboxes to deal with!

This isn't a job for the faint-hearted, especially when it's being carried out on the floor rather than in a fully equipped workshop. You won't find many mobile mechanics willing to take on work of this size, but at Plymouth Mobile Auto Repairs we're fully equipped to tackle everything from servicing and diagnostics right through to major clutch and gearbox jobs.

⚙️ Not a job for the faint-hearted! ⚙️

Today's challenge was a Vauxhall Combo requiring a new clutch, dual mass flywheel and concentric slave cylinder.

The customer complained of heavy juddering when pulling away, and after removing the gearbox we found the flywheel was in a seriously worn condition and well past its best. Everything was replaced with new parts and the van is now driving exactly as it should.

One thing that sets us apart is that we're not afraid to take on the bigger jobs. Many mobile mechanics won't touch a 6-speed gearbox on a van, especially working on the floor, but at Plymouth Mobile Auto Repairs we regularly take on clutch replacements and major mechanical repairs that others turn away.
