Feel free to contact me for more information and to book lessons Driving Licences
To drive on the roads, learners must have a valid provisional licence and to be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres (with glasses or contact
lenses if needed)
The licence, must be produced at the start of the first lesson. Theory and hazard perception test. I provide free on line theory a
nd hazard perception study for my pupils. Before you can apply for your practical driving test you must first pass the theory test, which is in two parts. The first part, the theory test, lasts for 57 minutes and consists of 50 multiple choice questions, picked randomly from the DVSA's Official theory test for car drivers. You must answer at least 43 questions correctly. There is then a break of up to 3 minutes before you start the hazard perception part of the test. This lasts approximately 20 minutes and you are shown 14 film clips in which you must identify developing hazards. To pass you must score at least 44 out of 75 points. You need to pass both parts to pass the theory test, if you fail one part you will need to re take the whole test. The practical driving test is approx 40 minutes long taking in a series of different Roads, there is one reverse manouvre , a 20 minute independent drive using a sat nav or following road signs and you may be asked to do a controlled stop as if in an emergency. You will be told the result at the end of your test . practical test
The test is designed to ensure that new drivers have skills they need to help them through a lifetime of safe driving. The independent drive will increase to 20 minutes roughly half of the test. Following directions from a sat nav
most candidates will be asked to follow directions from the sat nav (it will be pre programmed by the examiner). you will be able to ask the examiner for confirmation if you are not sure where you are going . it wont matter if you go the wrong way as long as you do everything safely. One in five tests wont use a sat nav , instead you will be asked to follow road signs for 20 minutes
Reverse manoeuvres.you will be asked to do one of these. parallel park at the side of the road
park in a bay - either driving in and reversing out ,or reversing in and driving out ( the examiner will tell you which )
or pull up on the right -hand side of the road , reverse for 2 car lengths and then rejoin the traffic , this manoeuvre may be done whilst doing the independent part of the test . The reverse around a corner and the turn in the road will no longer be part of the practical test but I will continue to teach these manoeuvres as they are vital part of everyday driving. show me tell me questions
The tell me will be asked at the start of the test before you start driving. The show me will be asked whilst you are driving and may be asked in the independent part of the test. e.g.show me how you would wash your windscreen using the car control and the wipers.
