First proper weekend event out in the Bedford. Drove well aside from the popping and banging. Unfortunately i drove back through a hail storm which wasn't very fun but she made it there and back 26 miles covered on 2-2.5 gallons of petrol so pretty good going all considered.

Unfortunately the canvas back wasn't fully waterproof we thing the paint may have caused this so fabsil is on order for that 🀦

Had the toolkit out that had a good bit of interest, need to get it finally finished off, still a couple bits missing but its just about there 😁

Still got some engine tweaking to do but for now she's complete....

A year and a half roughly which isn't bad going.

Just the tool kit to complete now and a few bits for shows, mainly a ladder, and were ready 😁

Getting on with canvas work imbetween the rain πŸ˜…

Borrowed a paint sprayer off my sister, its amazing what they can make in China 🀣

Thanks to Michaela Leanne for the canvas work and Robb Gpw for the eyelets, no way we could have done it ourselves

Just hoping on then the finishing touches to the camouflage and we'll be finished as far as the restoration is concerned 😁

It took a full day's work but the engine is in and weve had it running, sounds nice and smooth although there was still a bit of smoke 😬

it took the full morning to get just the engine in although im not able to get underneath with my broken toe.... they make it seem very easy in the service manual 🀣

FYI fit your engine before you put the cab back on, its 1000 times easier 🀣🀣

Big progress today, we ran the new engine up for the first time and it sounded great !!!

125lb through all 6 cylinders, struck up and started very quickly.

There was a bit of smoke when it started to warm up but then we think a lot of that is oil and grease from the cylinders and valves mixed with new paint on the exhaust manifold, fingers crossed it is 🀞😁

Finally making a bit of progress on the engine rebuild, after we found a crack in the new year we turned our attention back to the old one, needing to be surfaced for the manifold because of bad pitting, while clearing the mill to mount the head in unfortunately dropped a 25kg chuck and index head on my toe which in turn broke it....

However after nearly a week I managed to get back up the workshop and mount the head on the milling machine. We had to take a fair chunk off to get a good clean surface for the manifold, the valves have been relapped and fitted, were hoping the new block and pistons will sort our issue hoping the oil was coming up through the bores rather than down through the valves, we have fitted new valve stem seals and exchanged the inlet valves and guides for new ones. Fingers crossed it'll make a difference πŸ™

First proper road test, roughly 10 miles round, ran well although theres a slight knock on the engine, seems to have good power though, hopefully the new engine will sort that though 🀣

As we was leaving the coffee morning πŸ˜† we were very kindly given a photo of the local Home Guard company, all around a good trip out, got a longer journey tomorrow to a pre event meetup, fingers crossed all goes well

Not done much on her for a little while but we've got another fix to our smoke problems, another engine, this one being an original OY marked example. The head and manifold looks to have been skimmed so should fix our sealing issues around the inlet and exhaust ports. Fingers crossed it sorts it πŸ˜‚
