The government has confirmed that Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax for EVs is set to rise. Currently, it sits at just 4%, which is why choosing a car through The Electric Car Scheme can be 20-50% cheaper than a personal lease.
From next year, that rate increases to 5%, reaching 9% by 2030. While this is still significantly lower than the 30% you would pay for a petrol car, the most generous savings are available right now.
