🏍️: Multistrada V4 S Pikes Peak
🛠️: Service/Accessories
When Ducati announced the V4 it sent shockwaves around the hardcore, Ducati-can-only-be-twins supporters. When they introduced valves springs instead of the Desmo was a much quieter affair, but I always considered this a much bigger change as the Desmo has always been the USP of their bikes, and this was an interesting new direction.
The idea was about servicing intervals and costs, as well as production costs I guess.
I guess this makes sense on a tourer like the Multi, that has long established itself as the most popular model on the line up.
This was the first chance I had to work on a Granturismo engine and got to say it’s truly something remarkable. The whole bike is built in a very mechanic friendly way, without the usual quirk and over complicated ways of only a few years ago.
Panel fitting is perfect, with room to manoeuvre them to get them fitted, all electrical connections are neatly organised and fasteners are top quality.
The engine is unreal, does everything well and it’s easy to ride fast and handles well at low speed. Even for me (I’m 1.75m) is easy to get on and off and in the stand. It’s fairly big thought so I just wish they did a “city” version, 80% of the size like a big Hypermotard.
