The owner bought this bike completely blind and had it shipped directly to me. Before it could be trusted on the road, it needed various oil leaks addressing, carburettor issues sorting from years of standing, and a thorough check-over throughout.

What started as a straightforward recommission quickly turned into an interesting exercise in Italian reliability, with a few unexpected challenges along the way. Safe to say this one kept me on my toes.

The Laverda Mirage 1200's Dellorto PHF32 carbs were definitely showing their age. Years of grime, stale fuel and general neglect meant they were well overdue some attention.

Stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, rebuilt and then balanced on the DigiSync before heading out for the road test.

It's always satisfying seeing a crusty old set of carbs transformed back into something that actually works as intended.
