What started as a straightforward recommission quickly turned into an interesting exercise in Italian reliability, with a few unexpected challenges along the way. Safe to say this one kept me on my toes.

The Laverda Mirage 1200's Dellorto PHF32 carbs were definitely showing their age. Years of grime, stale fuel and general neglect meant they were well overdue some attention.

Stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, rebuilt and then balanced on the DigiSync before heading out for the road test.

It's always satisfying seeing a crusty old set of carbs transformed back into something that actually works as intended.

The old Pan-European getting some proper TLC.
Cam belt, valve clearances, plugs, filters and a full mechanical freshen up ready for more miles.

Spark plug threads can be very easy to damage if you’re not careful. I’ve heard a few different theories behind it — factory coating on the threads, over-tightening, heat cycles etc.
Interested to hear what everyone else has experienced.

The Honda Pan-European ST1100… forgotten, filthy and fighting rust at every turn.
But underneath the grime is one of the greatest old-school continent crushers ever built. 👌
