🔧 SEAT Leon - Clutch, Service & Brakes. This SEAT Leon came in for a clutch replacement, and while it was with us, the customer opted for a full service and thorough check-over. During the inspection, we found the brake discs and pads were heavily corrod ed all round, so those were replaced. With the gearbox out, we also noticed a CV gaiter was badly perished. It hadn’t split yet, but with access already there and no extra labour involved, we replaced it as preventative maintenance. It’s why we take the time to look beyond the initial fault. Spotting things early and making use of work already being done can save unnecessary labour and bigger bills down the line. New clutch, full service, discs and pads all round, perished CV gaiter replaced, fully checked and road tested. Another one sorted and back on the road.

A DPF warning doesn’t always mean you have a blocked DPF.

This Range Rover Evoque MHEV arrived with an “Exhaust filter full” warning displayed on the dash, along with fault codes relating to excessive soot accumulation.

Rather than jumping straight into a forced regeneration or condemning the DPF, we checked the live data first.

The differential pressure sensor was reporting around 5 bar at idle, rising to nearly 30 bar as the engine speed increased — readings that clearly weren’t plausible.

Further investigation traced the problem to the DPF differential pressure sensor rather than the filter itself.

A genuine replacement sensor was fitted, restoring the correct pressure readings and rectifying the fault.

It’s a good example of why diagnosis comes before parts replacement. A warning on the dashboard tells you there’s a problem — it doesn’t necessarily tell you what’s causing it.

⚡ **Jaguar I-Pace — diagnosed, repaired and back on the road.**

This I-Pace came to us after spending several weeks at the main dealer. With the owner becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation, they decided to bring the car to us for a fresh look.

The vehicle was suffering from a high-voltage system fault and reduced power.

Following our diagnosis, we traced the problem to failed equipotential bonding straps associated with the rear drive unit.

These straps form an important part of the vehicle’s electrical safety system, so this wasn’t simply a case of clearing the faults and sending the car on its way.

With the high-voltage system safely isolated and the correct checks carried out, access to the affected components required removal of the rear subframe and drive unit.

With the motor out of the vehicle, we also found the driveshaft seals were leaking. With access already available, it made sense to replace these at the same time rather than leave the customer with another repair to deal with further down the line.

The failed bonding components were replaced, the vehicle carefully reassembled and the relevant checks carried out to confirm the original fault had been rectified. ✅

And there was one final surprise…

During our final checks we noticed the car’s MOT had expired. As it was due to be collected, we managed to squeeze that in too — meaning the customer could collect the car fully repaired, tested, MOT’d and ready to use.

Jobs like this are exactly why we’ve invested heavily in EV training, tooling and diagnostic equipment.

We’re not interested in simply clearing warning lights. We want to understand **why the fault is there, repair it correctly and look after the whole vehicle while it’s with us.**

Your EV’s air conditioning does a lot more than just keep you cool ❄️⚡️

This Tesla was recently with us for an air conditioning system check and regas using our brand new AC equipment.

The customer hadn’t reported any problems with the system, but on an EV the air conditioning and thermal management systems have a particularly important job to do.

As well as keeping the cabin comfortable, temperature management is crucial to an EV’s operation — including helping to maintain the battery at the correct operating temperature.

We recovered and measured the refrigerant from this Tesla and found the system was only slightly below its specified charge. The amount lost was well within what we’d consider an acceptable rate of refrigerant loss over time, with no indication of a significant leak or underlying problem.

The system was then correctly recharged and checked before returning the car to the customer. ✅

Our new AC equipment is another part of the investment we’ve been making at OWRS as we expand our ability to service, diagnose and repair electric vehicles properly, alongside the performance and prestige vehicles we’ve always looked after.

🔧 Hybrid fault diagnosed & repaired ✔️

We recently had this Range Rover Evoque in with a charging fault showing on the dash.

Being an MHEV (mild hybrid), these vehicles use a 48V alternator system alongside a DC-DC converter to step down and charge the 12V battery. When something goes wrong, it’s not always a straightforward fix.

After carrying out a full diagnostic process, we were able to accurately pinpoint the fault to the DC-DC converter — a known weak point across the JLR MHEV range and often difficult to source due to back orders.

Once we secured the part, we completed the repair and got the vehicle back on the road where it belongs 🚗💨

This Cupra is one of our favourite regulars in the workshop… and not just because of the car — it normally arrives with two awesome Labradors in tow 🐾 — the owner isn’t bad either.

This is what a hot hatch should be: raw, powerful, yet refined enough to use every day. Just analogue enough to be a breath of fresh air compared to most things from the last 10 years, but still with the legs to give far newer machinery a serious run for their money.

Recently in with us to rectify a few age-related issues including perishing vacuum lines, failing boost pipe clips and a leaking oil filter housing — all sorted to ensure it’s performing exactly as it should. Especially important after we gave it a tune for a little extra poke 🚀
