EUROPE-BOUND CAYMAN | STRING SET-UP 📐
A few hours after leaving us, this Cayman was heading straight for Europe, so before the miles started stacking up the customer wanted to make sure the geometry was where it needed to be.
Once we got the strings on the car, it was clear the set-up was a little out.
We checked the front and rear toe, steering position and the relationship between the two axles, then worked within the adjustment available on the car to bring the set-up back as close to where we wanted it as possible.
There was still scope to go further, but further correction would have required additional hardware. With the car due to leave for Europe later that day, we concentrated on making the best use of the adjustment already available and getting everything pointing in the right direction for the trip.
It’s a good example of why geometry is worth checking, particularly before covering a lot of miles. Even relatively small discrepancies can affect how the car tracks and contribute to uneven tyre wear over time.
What’s the one thing you’d always check before heading off on a big road trip? 🚦
