Diesel Particular FiltersYou may have a problem with your Diesel Particulate Filter! The Diesel Particulate Filter is a component fitted to your vehicle's exhaust to trap soot and reduce emissions. The DPF usually cleans itself when the engine is operating at high speed - a process referred to as regeneration. Regeneration often take place automatically on longer journey when the exhaust temperatures are high. However if your journeys are typically stop and start, the regeneration process may not complete and a dashboard warning light will illuminate to show that the DPF has become completely blocked

When your vehicles DPF becomes full or close to full, it will trigger an error message in the engines ECU. The ECU will put the vehicle into "limp mode" restricting the engines power to a maximum of around 3,000rpm. This is to help reduce the amount of back pressure and potential damage.Diesel Particular Filters
