The Jaguar iPace is one of the most complex air conditioning systems of any car we’ve seen. With circuits to the battery, the EV electronics and all the usual air conditioning parts contolled by almost a dozen electronic valves. If you’ve ever plugged in a diagnostic tool to an IPace you’ll have seen over 500 parameters listed. Incredible design. Until it goes wrong! And someone has to dismantle the spaghetti

After 3 days workshop this great little Smart electric Drive lives again. (OK, not literally 3 full days of diagnosis work. There were a lot of searches for wiring diagrams, and a lot of head scratching time). But we finally got to the bottom of it. One little wire worn through against the chassis. I wonder how many good cars are scrapped because nobody can find the bad connection.

we’ve taken on an interesting repair. This hybrid Golf went into the Thames after the recent heavy rain. Or rather the Thames went into it! Those free parking spots in Richmond by the river… often end in drama. So not only did it get flooded - see the main hybrid battery controller board? Those white marks are salt. To make matters worse this was the salty end of the Thames. Then the RAC or AA patrolman tried to jumpstart it. And touched the +ve clip to the engine ECU. See the burn mark on the casing? Blew the thing to bits inside. This has been quite an investigation. Let’s see how this one goes. We’ll post the outcome if we get it running again! #
