Kia ceed 1.6crdi 2013
Customer complaint of intermittent no throttle response, not a nice situation when driving.
A scan of ems revealed a 5v reference fault code and live data for throttle pedal sensor missing 1 of the 2 5v supplies, whilst moving engine harness the missing 5v was restored, once the harness was opened up, all is revealed, after the repair the 5v was restored and vehicle performing as it should. All codes cleared. The loom is located under air inlet hose and would appear to be a design flaw.

Vw caddy 2010, 2k model, no indicators, horn, wipers/washers, central locking and ac, and big battery drain, coolant fan running when ignition switched on
This vehicle had a interior valet, with what i believe to be a pressure wash, after checking for stored fault codes, no comms posible with convenience module, steering control module both door actuators and ac module after checking wiring diagrams i decided to check the convenience canbus signals ( all no comms modules on this bus), signals badly corrupted and finally traced to AC module badly water damaged causing a short on the bus, when removed the modules came back on line with correct signals and cl, indicators, wipers/washers and horn now working, just need a new AC module now.

Bmw 330d convertible 2013
Problem: not starting (cranking) clicking noise can be heard from starter motor.
Fault: battery compartment submerged in water causing main battery lead to starter motor to completely corrode at junction underneath battery support tray.
Fix: remove battery/tray, drain compartment and repair main battery cable and auxilary cable (new cable £400 from dealers), refit and check (all ok)

Another clio with water ingress to interior caused by blocked plenum chamber drains, this has caused the rear hatch to not open and strange central locking problems, the connecter plug under carpet on n/s has corroded pins, bit of a challenge repairing loom/connector.

Currently looking at this vehicle
Peugeot 2008 1.2T puretec engine '17' reg
Customer drops off vehicle stating its difficult to drive (lack of power) and oil pressure warning display states 'oil pressure fault'.
Drove vehicle myself and sure enough would not even climb a incline and cut out.
Fault code revealed oil pressure fault, a check with customer and informed oil & filter was renewed 3 months prior, unfortunately the wrong grade of oil was used and these engines run a 'wet cambelt' the sump was removed and as can be seen the oil pick gauze is nearly completely blocked by the failed cambelt, the repair is currently ongoing.

Renault clio mk3 '08'
Indicators intermittently coming on and flashing and can be temporarily reset by touching the hatch unlock button, other faults include central locking not working.
Traced to water ingress to passenger footwell, caused by scuttle panel drains blocked allowing rainwater to enter cabin via heater inlet.
All cables in main connector repaired (located on inner sill under carpet) and all working normally.
Make sure you check the scuttle pan drains to avoid an expensive repair.

Nissan micra 2011 1.2 k13 3cyl
Came in for uneven running engine, a scan of ems revealed codes p0301 (cyl 1 missfire) and p0300 (general misfire), the ocilloscope was used to carry out a capture of all cyl kv's and burn time times were showing breakdown causing the uneveness, when spark plugs were removed for inspection, it wad noted that the wrong plugs had been fitted by somebody previous this engine requires iridium plugs at £20ea, cost cutting plugs at £4ea had been fitted which caused the the rough running , on this engine the inlet manifold had to be removed to change no.1 plug, so the motto is, dont skimp on parts it will cost more.

Another nice job today
Vauxhal zafira 1.8 '07'
Called out to look at vehicle as a none start, a s/h ecu and uec had been fitted in an attempt to cure fault and got fed up with it.
Fault code stored for low voltage to main ecu power relay, some basic checks revealled power loss to 2 wires at ecu (controlled by relay), relay was not actuating, caused by the control wire damaged a quick repair and relay now powered correctly and vehicle starting and ruuning as normal.
Always check the basics first!

Nice job today
2011 vauxhall insignia
Customer saying that no main beam headlamps and warning system lamp illuminated, but had 2 headlamps fitted previously, warning illuminated (pic1)
This vehicle would have been fitted with xenon lamps from new, so a scan of the system should reveal some info, (pic2), closer inspection showing wrong headlamps fitted (pic3), we managed to get customer to recover original lamps and found that the ballast unit for the n/s lamp was seriously corroded (pic4), a new ballast was sourced and fitted and refitted the lamps and after calibrating both lamps, clearing codes, lamps now working as normal.
These lamps are by xenons (dip and main beam on same bulb) and cannot fit halogen lamps, hence why main beam didn't work.
