Keeping our people safe means being prepared when it matters most.

Recently, members of the Spectrum VR Group team completed First Aid training with Burch First Aid.

The session was a great opportunity to refresh essential skills, build confidence, and ensure our teams are equipped to respond effectively in an emergency.

Health and safety is something we take seriously across our sites, and training like this is an important part of creating a workplace where people look out for one another.

A big thank you to Steve at Burch First Aid for delivering an engaging and valuable session, and to everyone at Spectrum who took part.

Investing in our people means investing in a safer workplace for everyone.

A damaged cab roof is no small repair.

This HGV arrived at Spectrum VR Group with significant impact damage to the upper cab, affecting the roof panel, front corner and surrounding fittings.

Because the damage extended across the roof structure, our team carried out an extensive repair. We stripped back the damaged sections, repaired the affected roof structure, and prepared the roof panel for refinishing.

Following the bodywork, the cab roof received a fresh coat of paint, restoring its original white finish. The roof fittings and surrounding components were then refitted, completing the transformation.

The result is a carefully restored cab, with the attention to detail expected of professional commercial vehicle repair.

40 years of Spectrum VR Group 🎉

On 26 September, we came together to celebrate an incredible milestone — 40 years of Spectrum VR Group.

It was a fantastic evening filled with music, entertainment, great food, drinks and plenty of memories shared across the team.

A huge thank you to our Managing Directors, Marc Watts and Louise Watts, for organising such a special celebration and giving everyone the chance to mark this milestone together.

Of course, 40 years is about much more than one evening.

It represents decades of hard work, commitment and support from so many people. Our management team, office staff, workshop teams, cleaners, suppliers, customers, partners and everyone who has played a part in Spectrum’s journey over the years.

Every person and every contribution has helped shape the business we are today.

To everyone who has worked with us, worked for us, supported us or trusted Spectrum VR Group over the last four decades — thank you.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate 40 years, and even more excited for what comes next.

From a heavily damaged front corner back to a clean factory finish.

This Scania P410 arrived with significant impact damage to the nearside front corner, affecting the bumper, lighting, surrounding panels and associated components.

Our team stripped the damaged area back to assess the repair properly, removing the affected components and preparing the vehicle for the rebuild. From there, we carefully reconstructed the front end, fitted and aligned replacement parts, and refinished the repaired areas to match the existing blue paintwork.

The final stage was bringing everything back together — restoring the panel gaps, lighting, trim and front-end appearance before the vehicle was ready to return to work.

For a commercial vehicle, that last part matters. A quality accident repair isn't simply about making the damage disappear; it's about returning a working asset to the fleet in the condition it needs to be.

When a previous repair no longer does the job, sometimes the best solution is to start again.

This tipper body came into Spectrum with significant damage and deterioration around the lower sections and mounting areas. Rather than simply patching over the affected metalwork, our team removed the compromised sections and rebuilt the areas properly.

New steel sections were measured, fabricated and formed to match the existing body before being welded into position. We paid particular attention to the corners, mounting points, and surrounding structure to create a solid repair that could withstand the demands of a working commercial vehicle.

Once the fabrication was complete, the repaired areas were prepared, protected and refinished, leaving the body structurally sound and ready to return to service.
It’s the sort of repair where the finished result hides just how much work has gone into it — which is exactly why the progress photos are worth seeing.

From collision damage to a complete rebuild.

This Mercedes-Benz Sprinter arrived with significant damage across the front corner, affecting far more than just the exterior bodywork.

The repair required a considerable strip-down, giving our technicians access to the structural and mechanical areas involved. From there, we repaired or replaced the damaged sections, attended to the suspension components, and carefully rebuilt the front end before moving into preparation and refinishing.

With the bodywork complete and the freshly painted panels fitted, the Sprinter could be fully reassembled and returned to its finished condition.

Jobs like this show what commercial vehicle accident repair really involves: bodywork, mechanical work, paint, and careful reconstruction all coming together under one roof.

After extensive repairs, the result is where it should be: back on the road and back to work.

There’s a lot more behind this repair than the finished photos show.

This ambulance arrived with significant damage to the rear corner, affecting more than the exterior panels.

Once stripped back, our technicians could access the damaged structure, repair and rebuild the affected areas, prepare and refinish the bodywork, before carefully reassembling everything around the vehicle’s specialist equipment.

And with an ambulance, getting the bodywork right is only part of the job. The lighting, graphics, doors, fittings and equipment all need to come back together as they should.

The result? You’d struggle to tell which corner was repaired.

What looks like a damaged corner can be a lot more than a damaged corner.

At first glance, the impact on this VW Crafter looks fairly contained to the front of the van.

But accident damage isn't assessed by what you can see from the outside alone.

Once our technicians removed the damaged components, they could properly access the area behind them, carry out the necessary repairs, and rebuild the front end correctly.

There's another detail we particularly like about this one.

Those black bonnet stripes were part of the van before the accident. After the repair and refinishing, we reinstated them to return the vehicle to how it looked before it arrived with us.

From a damaged front end, through strip-down and paint, to the finished van.

Black doesn’t hide much.

If the preparation isn’t right, the finished paintwork will show it — particularly on a large commercial vehicle with long, flat panels and reflections running across the body.

This van arrived with substantial damage around the front corner. What followed was considerably more than simply making the damage disappear.

The affected area was stripped, repaired and prepared through several stages before refinishing and reassembly. And with a black coloured vehicle, those preparation stages really matter. The final finish needs to flow naturally into the rest of the van without the repair drawing attention to itself.

Have a look at the reflections across the finished panels in the final photos. That’s the part we’re proud of.
