Many of the problems we see with cars are the same ones that occur time and time again. Often these are standard age-related issues (such as worn brakes and tyre tread), but others are avoidable. We don’t want to put ourselves out of work, but we also want to help our customers avoid the same mistakes others make…

This car came to us because the customer had used AdBlue, which had crystallised in the system and blocked the injector. Instead, we recommend using genuine Mercedes AdBlue to avoid this happening.

When this classic W124 came in for a checkup, we noticed a somewhat dodgy vibration at startup. From experience, we knew to check the engine mounts straight away.

As you can see in the picture, they have collapsed internally, which was causing the vibration. You can see the difference in height between the old mount and the new. So we did a quick switchover, and the car was good to go again… vibration-free!

This RS4 arrived running poorly and showing some strange throttle body codes. Even we were a bit miffed at first, but we always find an answer eventually.

We discovered antifreeze was getting into the throttle body and traced it down to a failed intercooler. Problem solved and repair done. We love being kept on our toes!

If you own a convertible, summer is your month! But if the roof doesn’t work, then it is enough to induce tears…and lots of them!

Last week, a customer came to us because the roof on their SL convertible was not working. Upon investigation, we discovered a failed seal, resulting in a loss of fluid pressure.

Just look at the engineering to latch the roof to the windscreen; it is such a work of art. This is the kind of stuff we get very excited by…
