Did you know? A tyre worn to the legal limit can take nearly twice as long to stop in the wet as a new one. 🚌

Same emergency stop from 50mph, same wet road — but very different endings. A new tyre pulls up in just over 2 bus lengths. Worn down to 1.6mm, you're still moving past 4. That gap is the difference between stopping behind the car ahead and stopping in the back of it.

It comes down to tread. Those grooves clear the water so your tyres can grip. Wear them down and the water has nowhere to go — so you slide further before you stop.

That's why we say change at 3mm, not 1.6mm. A few millimetres now saves a lot of metres later.
