Citroen C4 in for a MOT and full service. This C4 passed the MOT with flying colours which is great for the customer, we did recommend a timing belt due to mileage and age 👨‍🔧

We got to work replacing the timing belt, we discovered the timing belt had been rubbing on the top cover. This could have ended up costing the customer an engine. This why getting your timing belt replaced is vital and will save you 💰💰💰in the long run.

Not all Mondays are doom and gloom 👌

First off we had a ford transit in for an MOT and a wet belt replacement as it was due by age. Passed its MOT with flying colours and then we got stuck into getting the wet belt changed. The condition of the wet belt was fairly good, signs of a well maintained vehicle.. obviously we maintain this fleet of vans 😉.

We strongly recommend regular servicing if your van or car has a wet belt fitted, failure to service your vehicle regularly can accelerate wear on your belt and give you symptoms such as;
❌ Oil pressure warning on dash (this may come on and off)
❌ Oil light coming on dash
❌ Rock hard brake pedal
❌ Engine overheating

Ignoring these warning signs can cause premature engine wear on other engine components or in some cases the belt can snap resulting in further engine damage. If you’re unsure of your wet belts condition or if you’re having issues listed above, get in touch and we will be more than happy to help ✅

We also had a nice big motor home in for a full service. We carried out a full inspection to which it had a clean bill of health which is great news for the customer ✅

Great few jobs done and dusted

We had a Audi A5 in for a full service, which was definitely needed. We also noticed the front discs heavily corroded and the inside pads wearing low. New discs and pads fitted, back on the road in no time 🚙💨✅

Then onto a Renault master for several repairs. We got to work replacing the front discs and pads, front strut top mounts, front droplinks and finished off with a full service. Just waiting on some parts from Renault to finish this van off ✅

We had a big horse box in for blowers not working, we wasted no time in getting this fixed. We found the blower motor resistor melted and the connector from the blower motor melted, we replaced the resistor, got a new connector and section of harness. Blowers now working nicely 👌✅

To finish the day off we had a Vauxhall Crossland in for an EML fault. We checked the codes and found fault code P0369 exhaust cam sensor circuit. We carried out a few basic checks and found the oil level very low we topped up the engine with 2.5Litres of oil, with the level being that low it will have an effect on the variable valve timing by limiting its function. We also found the wet belt cracked and it was due to be replaced due to the mileage. We got in about it to get that belt replaced, new wet belt fitted, removed the sump for an inspection of the strainer to find very little wet belt particles in the strainer, sump refitted and new oil filter with fresh oil in. The cars still currently in the workshop as we are letting the sealer on the sump set ✅

Some good work here 👨‍🔧

First of we had a Nissan Qashqai in for a steering issue, we found an internal issue of the steering rack which required replaced. We managed to source a reconditioned Nissan Steering rack at half the price of a steering rack direct from Nissan, saving the customer 💰💰 new steering rack fitted and now the cars back on the road 🚙💨

Then onto the horse box, the customer complaint was of her interior fan not working on any setting. We carried out some checks and found the connector on to the blower motor resistor had began to melt, we discovered the terminals in the plug were splayed which resulted in the plug getting hot and making it melt 🔥

We also had an Astra in for heaters work intermittent and battery going flat after a few days. We carried out some wiring checks and component testing, we came to the conclusion the blower motor resistor was causing the battery drain by creating a constant current draw 🔋

Finally on to one of our fleet customers. We had their van in for some diagnosis and repairs. We got to work checking why there was warning lights appearing on the van, we came to the conclusion that the fuel filter was clogged causing a lack of fuel pressure bringing on the EML. We also found several repairs needed on the van, we got to work to get the van back on the road 🚐💨

Good day down in the garage today

First of we had a Fiat 500 in for an investigation for a loud knocking noise and an oil leak. We traced the oil leak to the turbo oil return pipe, we found it to be split. We also traced the source of the knocking noise, we found both outer CV joint boots split allowing joints to dry up and knock. We got to work replacing the driveshafts and turbo oil return pipe. The vehicle was back on the road in no time 👨‍🔧💨

Then on to a Peugeot partner for an inspection. We found both rear bottom arm bushes de-bonded allowing movement in the arms, we also found the N/S/F bottom ball joint to have excessive movement. We replaced the bottom arms and the ball joint ✅

Now on to checking of why this Ford transit wouldn’t start. We carried out an in-depth diagnosis and found a wet belt failure resulting in possible further engine damage. We started stripping down the engine to assess the damage. We removed the timing cover to confirm the wet belt had indeed failed with many teeth stripped off the belt. Unfortunately one of the fuel injectors has seized in the cylinder which means a a specialist is needed to come out to remove the injector, hopefully more to follow tomorrow 😉

Couple of jobs we done today 👨‍🔧

To kick things off we had a Renault trafic brought into us with a grinding noise, we carried out an inspection and found the front brakes metal to metal causing the grinding noise. We got to work by replacing the front discs and pads ✅

We then had a Ford transit in for a wet belt. The customer requested the belt done before the service interval which we highly recommend. We got stuck in getting the timing belt and all relevant parts replace. We also checked for a noise from the engine which was traced to the alternator belt tensioner, which we replaced 🚐💨

Ignoring warning signs of a wet belt issue can cause catastrophic engine failure, prevention is better than the cure 👌

Some of these warnings include,

- Oil pressure warning on dash ⚠️ (this may come on and off)
- Oil light coming on dash ⚠️
- Rock hard brake pedal ⚠️
- Engine overheating ⚠️

Good way to kick start the week 👏

First we had a Peugeot 3008 with an oil pressure fault. We found the wet belt badly cracked and deteriorated, which has then clogged the oil strainer resulting in an oil pressure fault. We got to work replacing the wet belt, cleaned out the oil strainer and cleaned all contaminated oil fed components. Please don’t ignore the warning signs, Important to get them checked and replaced when necessary. DO NOT wait for your engine to fail by ignoring warning signs like;

❌ Oil pressure warning on dash (this may come on and off)
❌ Oil light coming on dash
❌ Rock hard brake pedal
❌ Engine overheating

We then had a Peugeot RCZ in for a couple repairs. We got to work replacing the N/S/F bottom arm, O/S/F bottom arm and the battery. Car was back on the road in no time ✅🚙💨

We then had a Ford Transit recovered in with no brakes. We carried out an inspection of the van and found the van recently had brake pipes all round fitted to it (by another garage who we won’t name). We found the O/S/F brake had been rubbing on the timing cover due to it not being routed the correct way, we wasted in no time in getting the van back on the road. 🚐💨

We can’t stress enough to people about finding a garage who take pride in what they do. Luckily for this driver he was stationary when the brake pedal went down to the floor and the brakes became unresponsive, this could’ve ended so much worse.
