Bit pf a late pne from this week, sorry.
Workshop is pretty full, my car is on the ramp having been told off following a transmission issue, again cutting my street weekend so short its barely worth mentioning lol... So its up there in the naughty corner thinking about how its actions impact others 😂😂
The white mk2 capri is now finished, a few running issues found and resolved by resetting the points correctly followed by taking quite a lot of misplaced advance out of the igniton timing! The auto choke was staying on causing hot running and restarting issues that were the result of airlocks in the coolant system making the carb think it was stone cold!

The other capri is a very pretty and rare 87 2.8i special in an even rarer black. The owner bobbed in to discuss a new radio, aerial and non functioning rear wash wipe, which is exactly what the white one was in for! Ying and yang?!

Anyhoo, stay safe

This week on the i have removed the dash and tackled the windscreen surround! Not easy to fabricate but came out pretty well.
I can see the welding light at the end of the tunnel now lol, but it might be arc eye 😂
Also landed a mk2 capri 3.0 ghia in for a few little jovs including installing rear seatbelts!

Have a great bank holiday weekend!

This week i have mostly found very rotten stag chassis rails/inner wing/strut towers and repaired them!

Primer inside the leg, and between the layers where possible, rhin a smear of sealer and some fresh red oxide. Its a complicated area to repair, but it came out nice and will great once the anti stone chip goes on.

Just the dash to come out now and repair the screen aperture....

So this week i tackled some of the a pillar rot on the and fitted the front wing!

Luckily this side was significantlty less rotten than the drivers side, however the wing fought me quite badly!

I was talking to someone recently and i recommended using heritage panels where possible as they really are well worth the extra cost. The chap said i suppose they just fit straight on?
Truste they dont lol this one was too high in the middle and front, the gap tapered out against tje bonnet to around 3/8", so i had to spend almost a full day getting the fit correct!

However if you check out the fit against the front panel/valance/scuttle and bonnet its well worth the effort!

Enjoy the long weekend!

Okily dokily, welcome to another beautiful and sunny day at !

First off, a bit of a quiz! What am i doing/fixing on the yellow in the first pic?!

In other news, the wing is off the maroon Stag, pretty much dressed back, primed with just a couple of pretty minor repairs to do on the windscreen pillar on this side, which is nice!

And lastly, a car in for a diagnosis, but what is it?!

Ok just a tiny update this week, sorry!

Heres how i make the lower inner arch/sill end closing panel. You can of course buy these, but if they fit correctly it probably is either a) a miracle, or b) your wing/sill/arch is wrong lol.

So i make my own, ensures a perfect fit and finish.

I actually sealed and primed it but forgot to take pictures lol

Early update this week, due to Easter!

First off a tune up on a dashing Mk2 Healey 3000, one of my dream cars, and did not disappoint!

Secondly there was yet more stag reconstruction! I first off sealed, primered and brushed a little 2k onto the replacement tin work. I appreciate it isnt a showroom finish, but quite honestly very little of it will be seen once the car is all put back together and is difficult to get a good thick coating in there so should hopefully protect the hard to reach areas that rust first!

Then applied the valance, plug welded on the upper seam, stitched and ground back on the lower section with the seam groove incorperated into the weld.

And finally trimmed and welded in the outer of the inner arch! Horrible job as you have to get in there to weld and grind it back lol and i set fire to myself several times 😂 then plug welds around the arch seam as per factory!

And breathe 😂

Happy Easter!

Part 2 of 2.
I tried to repair the battery tray, but the base was very thin and perforated so advised a new repair section which the owner supplied.
Removing, dressing and installing tjis may be one of the most difficult and awkward jobs i have ever done! Slight differences in shape and the inaccessability were a total pain in the arms!
However as im waiting for paint to dry its all looking lovely.
Going to paint with topcoat some of the areas that are difficult to reach once the valance is on as they will be impossible to paint when the car is sprayed!

Onwards and upwards lol
