HEADS UP GUYS!!! The importance of servicing!! 👀👀.

Lovely wee Fiesta in for service today bang on our recommendation from last year. Passed its MOT in January no problem. Unlike many dealers we always strip the brakes during service for inspection and maintenance, here we are an alloy wheel cylinder (original) that mates against a steel backplate. The usual alloy corrosion starts to occur out of sight, this has pushed the cylinder away from the show and is 2mm from jumping past the shoe leading to instant brake failure. the cylinder has not failed nor has the brakes, simple corrosion and a poor mounting design and 1yr on this occasion has lead to near disaster!!

I can’t shout about routine maintenance enough, but Its a very hard thing to do in these expensive times we live in it’s such a hard job balancing keeping a car tip top with how much we charge our valuable customers.

Amazing what you can do with a pair of brake discs that are heading towards poor performance and brake noise during use eventually leading to the dust bin!

This can starts from good driving (looking ahead and not using the brakes a lot) or simply just lack of use in general.

This is done at no extra cost as the car is in for a service.. this is what this car needs during its service, not every car needs the exact same treatment, bit like humans 🤷‍♂️

I wondered how long it would take to be using both diagnostic tools at the same time!!... 🙈🙈 didn’t think it would be quite so soon!!

Kuga is a random engine cut mid drive.. LONG!!! drive. I drove it Saturday night for over 2hrs and never missed a beat but it’s stopped twice today so the 2nd tool is recording data that will hopefully tell us what system stops 1st in milli seconds!!.. 🤞🤞

1st run out for our new diagnostic tool we have added to the collection today. This stunning Porsche is coming out of hibernation for the summer. It required a new battery which is not as straight forward as ‘the good old days’, now fitted and the cars ECU programmed to accept the new part. Sounds a fancy carry on but if you will own a Porsche???.. These systems are now fitted to every day cars like BMW Mini’s, Golfs and Volvo’s to name but a few!! We have had cars in with electrical gremlins for a couple of years already where all that’s ACTUALLY wrong is simply the incorrect battery had been fitted or not coded into the system. Happy car happy owner ☺️☺️☺️👌.. (we won’t mention the new tool is 4 times more expensive than the car we used to get there 🙈🙈😂😂)

Proud to call these guys VERY good friends, we share a lot of values in the trade and the investment in this particular machine is certainly not ‘mucking about’ many people may think that must be for big fancy new cars! The technology this machine works with is on loads of very normal cars as far back as 2012! This isn’t a service thar might be required eventually, it’s here now! And has been for quite some time. We already have a car needing calibrated, a 2014 Golf. Well done Js, al dance at your wedding 💪

One of the last of the year with any luck.... mine!!!!

If a jobs worth doing it’s worth doing right, right???

We offer a underseal service for cars and 4x4’s to help prevent against salt eating into the undercarriage, and not just a 20 minute skoosh either.

1st the car gets pressure washed to remove mud, and general road grime, once dry further preperation to descale light rust or loose flaky sealer. Then it gets masked up ready before spraying all the relevant area’s, once dry strip back down. This job is best suited to summer when roads are dry and temperatures are higher to aid good drying but the faithful disco is at the end of the que.... again 🙈😂

This year has been some rollercoaster 🎢 and just like that we are approaching winter, we have already fitted winter tyres to 3 cars so far.
We dry store a huge number of customers ‘other’ tyres during the year so they are on the right tyre at the right time, on avarage a set of winter tyres are lasting a customer 4 seasons! It can be a little costly getting started on the winter tyre journey however once you have them you effectively run 8 tyres over a 12 month period so once up and running it isn’t a huge issue, more importantly your on the right tyre at the right time, from my rallying experience that’s a HUGE!! advantage. If you have never experienced winter tyres on a winter road you can very quickly feel a massive difference from a general road tyre. In fact when I do compete in winter rallies I actually use normal winter tyres and our results have been very very good!

NEEDLE INA HAY STACK AND WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER JUST FOLLOW A FAULT CODE

This 2013 Ford Focus Diesel came to us with multiple issues including low power and poor drivability.

A diagnostic scan came up with a huge number of fault codes listed, unfortunately a lot of people read the code and replace the part it says is faulty. In this case that would cost over £300 in parts. Simply believing a fault code is TOTALLY WRONG!! But we see it time and time again. The customer had been advised at another garage of the parts needed and had them all listed on his e bay account ready to buy! This is another HUGE no no. E bay sensors tend to be cheap rubbish and not up to the job in a lot of cases speically when looking for a ‘cheap’ part

We convinced him to give us the opportunity to take a look, we would start at the start and go from there keeping him informed as we went.

End result was 1 repaired car not 1 sensor or part purchased, car returned to full power and driving perfect.

As can be seen water ingress into the wiring loom has worked away at the wiring, the marks in the wire hit see is the corrugation from the plastic shroud that is supposed to protect the wires but here we it has actually helped to cause the issue.

Today we had our 1st service on a good customers new 2015 Skoda Superb. The car has been back at the supplying garage twice to fix the ‘stop start’ system not working with no success.
We carried out a code scan and a proper modern battery test, the battery failed this test.
We checked the correct spec required for the car before sourcing a new unit and also found the battery fitted was an incorrect spec for the car.
New battery fitted and everything reset and sure enough ‘stop start’ resumed! Happy customer! ☺️☺️

Back in the day the battery started the car. Today it is a VITAL part of the whole vehicle before, during and after use.
