Been tuning this ZZR1441.
Was a fun ride, ran out of gearing but still pulled a 227mph run at Elvington Speed Week, set a new record anyway.

That Elvington side wind always makes it interesting, smooth ride though, pretty quick I suppose.

Well it's been a funny old year so far chasing the numbers, most know me will tell you I don't like putting up anything on socials at the bets of times but last weekends Elvington Speed Records wasn't bad. Ran 272mph on my Holeshot Busa, not my PB but consistent and I broke 6 records.

Every day is a blessing to be racing all these decades and still aiming for that 280+, it's coming, back to Ireland and prepare for the next one...well put the bike in the corner and drag it out for the next ferry trip anyway.

So, it's that time of the year again when the landspeed record family head to Runway TWOSIX at the legendary Elvington airfield, a long trip from Ireland as always but we arrived safe and well, weather was good and a great turnout for the event.

The Holeshot team were out in force and the wheelie gods were celebrating 20 years since Dodge started the event, congratulations Dave, he finally won the event with a winning speed of 203mph, an outstanding achievement. Unfortunately Cecil "Bubba" Myers, representing America, aboard our Holeshot wheelie machine had a reverse decision on a 206.854mph wheelie which would have set him in 1st place again, that's racing I suppose!

Well how did we do? Paul Milbourn was the bravest 6'3 man to climb aboard our rocket ship as we hurtled towards the finish line from a standing mile start to break the world record setting an official Guinness World Record speed of 234.7mph....35 miles per hour faster 2-up than a Kawasaki H2R ridden by a very capable rider, we'll take that!

Jack put in another sub 270mph top speed to win the 1350 class but unfortunately a few gremlins and data showing rolling off across the finish line while heading for a 280mph pass, it will come, experience encourages patience not stupidity, an overall win and a record setting speed 2-up is a successful weekend for anyone....although grumps will not be happy with that.

Congratulations Phil Wood winning the 1600 class and a huge shout to all the riders who attended again this year, as always thanks to the Straightliners crew, support staff and medical team.

We keep pushing on, those numbers are coming, a few tweaks to the bike, few more dyno runs and some fettling, weather being on our side, we might see 280 this year...keep it pinned!

As always many thanks to the photographers.

Back from a great weekend at Campbeltown. 11 hours each way but well worth it to ride flat out on the most scenic airfield. Issues with charging system on Saturday and caused misfires so struggled and only ran 254mph on the mile and 188mph on the 1/4. Got sorted for Sunday but the weather turned against us. Cold, damp and 15-20mph side wind. So with the bike sorted ran 260mph on the mile which was good for Sunday conditions before the event was cancelled due to the wind. I was really hoping to better my PB of 275mph but wasn’t to be.
Many thanks to Michael Leighfield, Eddie O‘Brien, Quattro Plant and all Straightliners crew.

Well it's been another crazy week in the workshop, it becomes a blur most days I'm not sure I actually leave and come back every day or if I've been there for days. The 2024 Pikes Peak engine was an absolute beast to build, I don't know where these years go, 2008 I started building these motors, how is that even 16 years ago? What's even more mind boggling is Inserted doing turbo engines in 1988...how I was doing that when I was only 5 I will never know(👀😁).

Well have a great weekend...wonder what I will be doing?

Last week was a hectic one (aren't they all?)

Yet another V8 build on the bench!
This engine just shipped back over the pond for this years Pikes Peak challenge in June...what a beast of a motor this is.

Been a VERY Suzuki week, and why not? 😁

Busy busy in the workshop, sometimes I wonder if I've actually been to bed some days or have I just been so zoned out I actually haven't left for days... it's all a blu, got to love what you do and do what you love.

Jack

P.S There were 4 more GSXR engines in the rack but I couldn't be arsed carrying them all to the bench.
