H O Automotive Repairs Hi and welcome to my page. My name is Sam, I have been a mechanic most of my life and have a passion for Subaru’s.

I’ve mainly started working on them from owning a STI spec D after being initially being told they are a pain to work on, there is some truth to that but with these engines some things are easier to do one way than they are on a traditional 4 cylinder engine. I did a major service on my spec D including changing the timing belt which I found much easier comparative to a normal 4 cylinder engine. I

then sold the spec D bought myself a JDM sti which I decided to restore underneath. Removing everything including the engine, transmission, fuel tank etc, replacing various parts including rear wheel bearings, pads and discs, refurbishing callipers etc. Once that was done I was bored again, so bought a forester XT which had a poor running engine, then bought another with a good engine and rebuilt the broken engine to put in the newer XT I bought, I decided To fit a larger turbo/intercooler/fuel pump etc and also decided I would do the mapping myself. I’m always one for learning how to do things for myself not only to save money but to gain knowledge. I had previously tinkered with the map on the standard turbo but wanted to get more in-depth. To which after a while I got the hang of, the car seemed to have an issue where it was running rich, although I’ve yet to solve the problem I’ve mapped around it producing a very fast forester XT. Which has not let me down no matter how much abuse I give it!, and has only resulted in a broken gear box!. Then, bored yet again I decided to start playing with something called a carberry rom, which is basically a group n rom that has been made to be able to be flashed onto certain year Subarus. Resulting in features like anti lag, flat foot shifting, launch control and various other fun stuff!. So I flashed this onto my JDM, with the guidance of someone who had helped me with the forester and provided a base map. I then set about dialling in the fuelling, boost and timing until I was happy which resulted in a very smooth responsive car. I’m looking to now move into repairing and mapping cars in my spare time, now I feel I have gained enough knowledge. Probably starting on small repairs priced accordingly. And then moving up to mapping customer vehicles. Thanks you for viewing my page, i will update this as necessary.

Going to start taking some bookings now I think.

going to start off small. Weekends only. If anybody needs servicing/brakes/suspension work etc PM the page. Would prefer Subaru work as that’s what I want to specialise in. But I’ll work on anything really. Will obviously be competitive as I’m just starting out on my own.
