Brand new Mercedes GLC. A few days out of the dealership.
First thing I noticed: water sitting flat on the bonnet. On a car this new, the paint should be beading. The hydrophobic protection had already failed.
Then I lifted the bonnet. Grime and dust on the underside, fasteners missing from the liner. The kind of thing a quick look never catches.
Then the footwell. Dried grass and debris on the driver mat, Mercedes-Benz badge and everything.
Then the buckets. Plastics clean in one. Seats in another. The water coming out of both said everything about a car that had never been properly cleaned.
Brand new doesn't mean properly protected. It doesn't mean clean. The factory process, transport, and time on the forecourt all leave their mark before you've driven it a mile.
Gold package today: snow foam, two-bucket hand wash, clay bar decontamination, tar removal, wax protection. Paint is beading properly now. Interior is spotless.
