This is typical of a modern vehicle, 66 potential electronics modules on 11 different computer networks. No wonder many traditional mechanics struggle with vehicle electrics, cars have changed so much since they were trained. I'm often faced with potentially hundreds of fault codes and have to interpret exactly which ones are relevant to the fault the customer is experiencing. Then I need to work out which are primary codes and which are caused by incorrect information being fed into the networks from another module with a fault.
People often call me up and say I must have a better computer than their guy, but often the fix comes from understanding how all the systems work, how the mechanical systems interact with the electronics and how the vehicle will react to a particular fault.
