There is a saying when you buy a used Jaguar “There is nothing more expensive than a cheap S-Type” most people buy older Jaguars for nostalgia reasons and end up getting their fingers Burt! I bought this 2001 model S-Type 3.0 Sport as a project a few Months ago so I could hide in my garage, I hope the project pictures go some way towards telling the story of the work I have done so far! The car ha
s been tucked away in my garage since the day I bought it having all the work plus more seen in the outline pictures. Its a 2001 3.0 V6 with 100,800 miles on the clock, that was lady owned for the first 10 years of its life, I have the original service book with lots of stamps up to around 80000 most of which are from a Jaguar main dealer
So far in summary here are some of the cars key features:
· 18inch Supercharged Alloys
· S-Type R suspension
· Supercharged Mesh grill
· Solid Alloy Gear knob
· S-Type R Badges all round
· Full leather Sport Seats (proper lifted edges)
· Wood and leather steering wheel
I bought it as a project and have carried out the following work so far with no expense or effort spared
· New front discs and brake pads
· New rear discs and brake pads
· Replacement N/S drive shaft assembly
· Rear wishbones replaced
· Rear stabiliser arms replaced
· Front and Rear callipers removed refurbished and painted
· Front & Rear struts and springs replaced with Supercharged items (cleaned and painted)
· Rear suspension stripped & sub-frame cleaned de-rusted and painted (see pics)
· Rear differential de-rusted cleaned and painted
· Handbrake cables and operation refurbished
· Rear under floor & rear de-rusted and cradle treated with cavity wax clean and fully undersealed
· Boot area cleaned and inner cavity’s treated with wax (Carpets mint condition)
· All leather fully treated and conilised – absolutely mint condition
· Front wishbones & arms stripped cleaned de-rusted, painted and re-bushed were necessary
· Front stabiliser arms replaced
· Under bonnet inner wings fully painted in satin black
· Engine and ancillaries fully detailed – Clean and painted to perfection with new washers and bolt etc
· Underside all surface rust removed – Treated and newly undersealed
· Rusted drivers sill panel de-rusted and welded (in progress and will be finished)
· Bodywork machine polished to perfection using Autoglm products
· Front tyres are perfect and the huge rear 275/35/18’s are just on the limit (two good matching replacements included in sale)
· Spare keys and remote control intact
