Well certainly to be the traditional day of Friday 13th yesterday.
What I thought would be a easy fitting of a bracket on the Cortina resulted in obviously an electrical short circuit.
It appears I drilled through a major battery wire and then Pop rivetted it to boot.
Soon as I turned the isolator switch on masses of rancid smoke..
Thank goodness for those cut off switches.

After the bending out of the front wings of MNO the other week, obviously the paint was disturbed.
I did notice that in the past I had merely used a rattle can possibly etch primer.
After as said the bending had flaked this down to the what must be the replacement front wing I put on some 40 years ago to the supplier coated primer that has stayed intact
So much for etching!
Anyhow Leyland all purpose primer was applied by brush 🪥 whilst I thought about using what I had left off the self made Spruce Green 💚 BZ marine paint .
Sadly that has gone off so much it was unacceptable to use.
I had in the last few days thought that the white primer gave an attractive look against the remaining Green 💚,and gave the impression of extended wheel arches..
I am thinking it is giving an eye 👁️ catching look from the side also, not only for safety but on track for instance looking rather aggressive.
So I will obtain some too coat white and see how it goes.

Delved into a spot of aero dynamics today with thoughts of releasing air from under the bonnet.I have always thought that the Anglia front end was much better than the Mk 1 with its lower bonnet line.
Anyhow it looks terrible and will no doubt let water in ..
Even standard it would as I have no lip to speak of within the outer & inner wing.
So I will see how it goes.
I have plans to fit an air splitter to the anti-roll bar blocks in time.

At last a solution to the spinning wheel stud in the alloy wheel hub.

Thankfully the sleeved nut wasn't too tight like last time .A thin screwdriver wedged in behind and socket undoing the nut had it apart after a little struggle.
I had hit on an idea to use a 2 " -7/16"unf bolt passed through the hub ,and using a half nut to lock that in place on the other side of hub.
Wheel side fl**ge.
Either counter sinking the locking nut with the alloy hub.
Despite using 2"unf on my BMW rotoflex drive conversion to Imps I must have used them all up . So a search through the hoarding of fasteners produced an ex Seat belt mounting bolt with a shallow head and just a bit short of 2".
In the thought of the countersink idea I had another thought of inserting a bit of excess 11/16" sleeve I cut off because the supplied bolts only come in 34 mm length.
Drilling out bravely the expensive alloy offending hole to 17mm enabled the insert to be drawn in on a I suppose a interference fit.
But would it hold when tightening the wheel nut..
Well yes it does after even testing undoing and doing up.
Well chuffed!

The other set back on MNO is the front off- side alloy wheel hub.
The longer wheel studs don't have a long enough spline and despite obtaining replacement studs from Dear Neil of Milton and a dosh of similar locktite stuff to locate the sleeved nut is spinning the stud around again..
Hopefully I don't have to drill out nut and stud through again.
After that it is to work out how to enable to tighten sleeved nut to hub..

So nice to feel comfortable working out in the Spring 🌱 Time.
Still getting set backs with the electric but have it under control now .
In general it was advised to remove the amp guage and replace with a Battery voltage indicator due to having quite a powerful Alternator banging out amps behind the dash.
Taking things into account what with so much wiring going on back there I have skipped it ..
I noticed that when having a bash with the indicators it was handy to see the meters dropping minus and also when other things were loading just sitting in the seat.
Anyhow the BCI was placed near the battery in view to my left with a simple switch to tell me if the battery is being charged.
Just the same as connecting a multi meter.
By now the engine compartment is a mess of wiring. Some original and some the result of two attempts of the indicators, lights and so on .A purchase of flexible convulated trunking has tidied up of that a lot and weather protected the front wiring aspect in front of the radiator.

Something else to do at a later date..
No doubt brought on by this winter 's weather is the lifting of filler on the front under valance..
I remember doing the repair (?) about 30 years ago when my Dad was still using the Cortina.
So I will be smarting it up ,and then make a GRP mould + laying up a GRP panel.

I have had plans to eventually install a supercharger to the 1500 pre x flow in time.At present this cracking panel is bugging me so it will be a false panel with the radiator and fixings plus structural brought forward to make room for a extended Crank pulley to join Supercharger to crankshaft.
In the meantime a road shake/breakdown, then track day session at Curborough in April.
April will be the 30th anniversary of my dad's parting and my inheritance of MNO ,so that would be good to aim for.
I started this project Some 4 years ago.
Coincidence that in April 1996. ,the road fund licensing as it was called then I think expired

Along with the success of getting 1/4 of the indicators working before the heavy rain I robbed on another coat of Tyre softner.
