You see the finished campervan.
We see the materials, measurements, joinery, electrics, fitting, finishing and all the work that came before it.

Quality doesn’t happen at the final stage. It comes from paying attention throughout the entire conversion process.
That’s why we carry out our conversions in-house at our Sussex workshops, with different members of the Free Spirit team bringing their own expertise to each stage.

The finished campervan is the part you see. The craftsmanship behind it is what gets it there.

This is where a Free Spirit campervan starts to come together. 🔨🚐

Behind the finished interiors you see in our showroom is a working Sussex workshop, with vehicles at different stages of conversion, materials ready to be transformed and our team putting everything into place.

It’s where the practical work happens before the finished campervan is ready for its new owner.

Take a glimpse behind the scenes at Free Spirit.

Then ➡️ Now
More than 20 years separate some of these Free Spirit campervans, and we've got quite the photo archive to show for it.

Vehicles have changed. Interior trends have changed. Colours have definitely changed.

But more than two decades later, we're still here in Sussex converting campervans.
We're opening the archives in our latest blog to see how our camper van conversions have evolved over the years.

More than 20 years of campervans, how much has changed along the way? 🚐

Styles evolve, materials change, and what customers choose for their interiors moves with the times. Looking back at some of our earlier conversions alongside the campervans we build today is a brilliant reminder of just how much the industry has developed.
What hasn’t changed is Free Spirit being here, building campervans and helping people get out and enjoy them.

Here’s to the next chapter.

A lot can change in 20+ years.

Vehicles evolve. Interiors change. Colours and styles move on. Technology develops.

We’ve been there through all of it.

From some of our earliest conversions to the campervans we’re creating today, Free Spirit has spent more than two decades helping people get out and make more of their weekends.

And after all that time, this is still where the adventure begins. 🚐
