The growing challenge of power demand in the cold chain industry ⚡❄️
Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at Cold Chain Live 2026 in the Innovation Zone, discussing one of the biggest challenges facing the industry increasing electrical power demand.
As cold storage facilities expand, refrigeration technology develops and businesses look towards electrification, the demand placed on existing electrical infrastructure continues to grow.
Many facilities are already operating with ageing electrical systems, limited spare capacity and the challenge of maintaining operations while carrying out essential upgrades.
It’s something we see regularly at Ben Wood Group, working alongside customers to assess their existing infrastructure, identify limitations and plan electrical upgrades that support future growth.
It was a great opportunity to share our experience and discuss the challenges facing the sector.
On a personal note, standing up and speaking at an industry event like this is something I wouldn’t have imagined doing when I started Ben Wood Group 10 years ago.
