🚗🚴 APPROACHING A LEFT JUNCTION — WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

You’re preparing to turn left, but your side mirror shows a cyclist approaching from behind. Would you continue turning or wait?

A mirror check is only useful when you act on what you see.

Remember, on your driving test, safe decisions matter just as much as carrying out the correct routine.

🎯 Think. Choose. Explain.

Which answer would you choose — A, B, C or D?

🚗 LEFT BEND vs RIGHT BEND — WHY THE DIFFERENCE?

Different bends require different road positioning, but safety always comes first.

Your position must take account of visibility, road width, oncoming traffic and potential hazards.

🧠 Do you understand WHY the positions differ?

👇 Choose A, B, C or D and explain your reasoning!

🚗 WOULD YOU GET THIS RIGHT ON YOUR DRIVING TEST? 🤔

🎯 SRP DRIVING TEST MINDSET

🚦 USE OF SPEED | PROGRESS | SAFE DISTANCES

💡 Good driving isn’t about driving fast. It’s about knowing when to accelerate, when to slow down and how much space to leave.

✅ USE OF SPEED
The speed limit is a maximum, not a target. Always adjust your speed to the road, traffic, visibility and weather conditions.

✅ PROGRESS
Make confident, reasonable progress when it’s safe. Avoid unnecessary hesitation, but never compromise safety just to keep moving.

✅ SAFE DISTANCES
Keeping a safe distance gives you more time to recognise hazards, react and stop safely.

Remember, your following distance must reflect your speed, road conditions, visibility and weather. The more challenging the conditions, the more space you may need.

🔥 QUIZ TIME — TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

🌧️ You’re following another vehicle on a high-speed road in wet weather.

❓ What’s the minimum recommended following gap?

🅰️ 1 second

🅱️ 2 seconds

🅲️ 4 seconds

🅳️ 10 metres

👀 Look carefully at the graphic before answering!

👇 Comment A, B, C or D — and tell us why!

🚗 Anticipation and Safe Positioning

How would you deal with this parked vehicle?

As you approach, what is the best course of action?

A) Maintain your current position and move out only when you are close to the parked vehicle.

B)Move towards the centre of the road immediately, regardless of approaching traffic.

C) Assess early, check your mirrors, move out smoothly when safe, leave adequate clearance, then check your mirrors again before returning to your normal driving position.

D) Continue at the same speed and rely on the parked vehicle remaining stationary.

A good driver is thinking ahead:

Could a door open?
Could a pedestrian emerge?
Could the vehicle move off?
Is there approaching traffic?

Good anticipation gives you time to make a calm, safe and well-planned decision.

What’s your answer: A, B, C or D? 👇

🚨 EMERGENCY STOP — WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

During your driving test, the emergency stop isn’t simply sprung on you without explanation.

Beforehand, the examiner will explain that you’ll be asked to stop the vehicle in an emergency and will tell you how the signal will be given.

Before giving the signal, the examiner will check behind to make sure it is safe to conduct the emergency stop.

If you notice the examiner looking around, don’t anticipate the stop — wait for the actual signal.

Then comes the moment shown in our graphic:

✋ “STOP!”

Now it’s your decision.

Look carefully at the four options.

A, B, C or D — which would you choose, and why? 👇

We’ll reveal and explain the correct answer after you’ve had your say.

That blue sign is easy to miss — but it changes how you deal with oncoming traffic. 👀

Here, the sign means traffic in our direction has priority over oncoming vehicles through the priority section.

So why is the oncoming car waiting?

Because the priority sign changes the normal meeting situation — but it doesn’t mean you can simply drive through without checking.

For your driving test, the important skill is recognising the sign early, understanding what it means, checking the road ahead and then making a safe decision.

There is more to observe here too:

🚗 Oncoming traffic
🚸 The pedestrian refuge
🚶 Pedestrians on the pavement
🛑 The give-way area
🔢 The 30 mph limit
🚘 A vehicle joining the road further ahead

You don’t need to react to every feature at once.

Good observation means identifying what matters, prioritising it and planning your next action.

That is why this isn’t just a lesson about a traffic sign. It’s a lesson about judgement.

🎯 Driving Test Mindset:
Priority tells you who should normally proceed first.
Observation and judgement tell you how to do it safely.

Question:
If an oncoming vehicle was already entering the priority section when you arrived, would you continue because you have priority, or would you wait — and what would influence your decision?
