Got Merlot through his MOT this year but he needed quite a bit of TLC.

Over the last 6 months or so I had noticed that he did not want to start up so easily, and his performance was dying off. I knew the battery was on it's last legs but I had also come to the conclusion that the compression must be going on the engine (replace or rebuild time).

I fitted a brand new battery before he went of to the garage for a pre MOT inspection. Still reluctant to start though.

Anyway they found the distributer cap was on it's last legs and replaced it.

Both performance and starting problems restored to normal. Sometimes it's hard not to think the worst, but this has been a great result (for my wallet)!

Oh and he passed but needed brake work, indicator stalk replacement and rewiring, track rods, passenger rear cluster rewiring and the new cap. He had a full service as well.
