Let's us take you around the most scenic locations in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and you can see it all with one road trip!

Some places look cinematic. Glenfinnan already feels like it belongs on screen. The sweeping viaduct and Highland landscape became one of the most recognisable sights in the Harry Potter films, with the Hogwarts Express crossing high above the valley. It is one of those locations where the journey there is every bit as memorable as the destination.

Few landscapes carry atmosphere quite like Glencoe. Towering mountains, deep valleys and roads disappearing into the Highlands gave Skyfall one of its most memorable Scottish backdrops. Drive through it slowly, because this is the kind of scenery that makes you understand why filmmakers keep coming back to Scotland.

Set where three sea lochs meet, Eilean Donan looks almost designed for cinema. It has appeared in The World Is Not Enough, Highlander and numerous other productions, but even without a camera crew it remains one of Scotland’s most dramatic sights. Arrive as the light begins to fall and the whole landscape changes character.

One castle, several completely different worlds. Doune Castle became Castle Leoch in Outlander, appeared as Winterfell in the original Game of Thrones pilot and played multiple roles in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Standing here feels less like visiting a film set and more like stepping through several decades of screen history.

A small Scottish fishing village became New Asgard. St Abbs was transformed for Avengers: Endgame, but its real attraction is the place itself: rugged cliffs, a working harbour and a coastline that feels completely removed from the usual tourist trail. One of the most unexpected filming locations in Scotland, and one of the best surprises on the road.

The Highlands Golf Road Trip
Forget checking in and out of hotels. Load the clubs, hit the road and turn the journey itself into part of the experience. This route takes you from Glasgow into the Highlands for three very different examples of Scottish links golf.

Starting and finishing in Glasgow, head north through the Highlands to Nairn, Cabot Highlands and Royal Dornoch. Between rounds, take your time: stop in Highland towns, explore the coastline and wake up somewhere different along the way.

First stop: classic Scottish links golf on the shores of the Moray Firth. Nairn combines fast-running fairways, natural dunes, coastal wind and incredible sea views. It has also hosted the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup and The Amateur Championship — a serious piece of golfing history.

Next comes one of Scotland’s modern greats. Castle Stuart at Cabot Highlands hugs the Moray Firth, with huge views, dramatic elevation changes and some spectacular risk-and-reward golf. And with the new Old Petty course now open, Cabot Highlands has become an even bigger golf destination.

Save this one for the finale. Royal Dornoch is one of the most sought-after tee times in Scotland and regularly ranks among the finest courses in the world.

And yes — the reputation for being difficult to book is justified. Royal Dornoch welcomes visitors, but demand is enormous. The club says more than 13,000 visitor rounds are made available each year, yet summer tee times can be almost completely booked out well in advance. If Royal Dornoch is on your bucket list, this is one to plan early rather than simply turn up and hope.

Three rounds are only part of the story. The real luxury is having the freedom to stop when the view looks too good to drive past, change the plan whenever you want and experience Scotland beyond the clubhouse.

Play by day. Explore by road. Wake up somewhere new.

Save this route for your next Scottish golf adventure. ⛳️🚐
