So the burning question is has the Scirocco made it? Well very nearly! Dan has worked his socks off for the past 3 weeks - no days off and late shift every night. Got through the list of jobs plus a good few new ones which emerged - rebuilt top end, rebuilt weber carb, bonnet respray, various bits of recommission and detailing, servicing and lots of brake fettling. ‘Rocco was running great on the way to the MOT station on Friday morning until a flaky fuel tank outlet caused a temporary breakdown. Once blown clear it was off again, but made them a little late for the appointment, and the car has had to be left to be tested Monday instead (not our usual very obliging tester who’s been on holiday). The plan was then to go to the car show together in the Capri, but after reading some horrific information about it in today’s newspaper, we have decided no thank you this is not for us. GG

It’s a case of “3,2,1” - 3 weeks until the Car Show. 2 middle-aged blokes with families and day jobs. 1 lovely but very knackered VW Scirocco Mk2!!!
Back in April, we took a run up to Buckie in the Capri to book it into the Buckie Classic Car Show. When he was paying his fee, Dan had one of his epiphanies and decided to book in his Scirocco too. And of course Glenn was like a dog with 2 tails at the suggestion he would get to drive one of them.
And since then every 2 or 3 weeks we’ve had the same conversation, “we’ll need to get the Scirocco going” - “ach still plenty time…” And now there are precisely 3 weeks left and rather inconveniently it turns out ‘Rocco is a very poorly Veedub indeed. Where once Castrol’s finest GTX flowed, we found something that looks more like Hellman’s. That’s the priority, although there’s a wee-ish bit of paint and general fettling to see to as well. Oh dear - can we fix it in time? Honestly we’re not sure, but rest assured we’re going to give it our best shot!! Stay tuned folks.

Spotted this gorgeous Fergie TEF20 today at Turriff Show. He goes by the name of Bertie and usually lives in Ireland with his pal Sammy Heaney
Bertie is a couple of years younger than our TC Fergie, and has got me wondering if it’s time to abandon the heavy patina look, order up a gallon each of yellow and black gloss on the TC motor factor account, and hope Dan doesn’t notice the invoice! GG.

What a great weekend. Had a borrow of the silver TC Z4 for a night away with the wife to celebrate our silver wedding (cheers Dan!) The sun appeared for a brilliant drive up through the backroads of Speyside with the top down all the way. The car drove fantastically - the silky smooth straight 6 provided a wonderful soundtrack, and we had a thoroughly lovely time. This beautiful car will be up for sale soon along with a gorgeous gunmetal silver 2.0 Z4 both with 12 months MOT - watch this space or DM if you’re interested. GG

Would a Volvo V50 ever become a classic?
Well this one stands a chance at surviving another decade or so now.

Descaling followed by 2 coats of Hydrate 80 and a few new parts. To be coated in Dynax UB this Tuesday.

Glenn is the man!

A joint project Z4 2.5i with a couple of ailments. The elephant in the room is a none working soft top.

Hydraulic leak was a suspected seal in the passengers side ram….. nope. The drain hole was blocked and had filled with water, keeping the ram fully submersed.
The water corroded the tiny hydraulic pipe and a pin hole on the corner was created, expelling the Hydraulic fluid.
Pipe number 14 is ordered. For those that don’t know, there is a red printed number on each pipe just below the metal bend. Watch this space. DA

Z4, burger and a Speckled Hen beer! What more could two grown guys ask for. Other than plotting our next ride! Great evening out for TC
