😞 𝗕𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀: you’re going to be charged more for your car tax from the 1st of July 2024…

… 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘘𝘜𝘐𝘊𝘒𝘓𝘠! 💨

HMRC recently announced that from the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, double-cab pick-up trucks are going to be 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗻.

They say this is because these vehicles are “𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥” to both transporting goods and also passengers.

Previously, if your double-cab pick-up had a payload of more than a tonne, then it was considered a van and therefore attracted far cheaper company car tax.

𝗦𝗼… 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂? 🤔

Well, if you lease, order, or currently own a double-cab pick-up 𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 1st July 2024, it’ll still be treated as a commercial vehicle for BIK purposes 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟴 🥳

Orders from the 1st of July 2024 onwards will be treated as a company car for BIK purposes.
