🛑 EMERGENCY STOP 🛑

An emergency stop is a manoeuvre that can help you escape danger, and you can be asked to complete this manoeuvre on the day of your driving test so here's how to do it! 👇

How you complete an emergency stop depends on whether your car has an anti-lock braking system or not. If your car has an anti-lock system:

Press the brake and clutch pedal simultaneously with maximum pressure. The anti-lock braking system will help stop your wheels from locking, decreasing the likelihood of skidding. It also gives you the ability to steer yourself out of trouble! ❌🔒

If your car does not have an anti-lock braking system:

Press the brake first at maximum pressure, then press down on your clutch. If your car starts to skid, release the brake very briefly (so that the wheels can grip the road again) and re-apply it quickly.

Keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel to maintain control.

Before moving off again, check your surroundings (including BOTH blind spots) 👀
