Its time to make changes in our garage. So our FL 2001 Porsche 911 996 Turbo manual is one that we will be passing on to a new owner.

Anybody interested - PM. New alloys, brake calipers etc. Also undercarriage as new.

And we know it has been and will be a good investment as the prices of 996 Turbo manuals are modest even the prices have appreciated. First water cooled 911, controversial design, most beautiful rear end (ducktail) etc. Mostly hated headlights will likely be one of the main drivers to make it soughtafter model.

24 year old 420 hp manual doing 4,2 sec to 100 km and 300 km/h… And its 911. Turbo. You get wheel spin on tarmac as well.

Buyer can let us know of the price developments.

And this specimen’s history is well documented, having spent its time in Germany and Sweden. Go and find one with 100 k km on clock.

If we’d have no Sunday driver (which we have few too many) and 65 k on bank account - we would buy it. Or we actually did. And then understood its not driven. And 911 Turbo should be driven.

For 65 k its bargain.

Grand tourer - car that is designed for high speed and long-distance driving with performance and luxury (wikipedia).

2008 Aston Martin DBS V12 manual Casino Royal tickes all the boxes. Plus- its one of the most beautiful and iconic cars ever built. Proven also by those car enthusiast that were on their Saturday cruise and spontaneosly waived while driving the opposite way on the road to Jämsa.

Getting to the point.

We had to do Tallinn- Jyväskylä- Tallinn roadtrip this weekend. Invited by Toyota Gazoo Racing rally team to their Saturday evening team dinner and service park. Our focus on Kalle’s car’s roof and livery.

So while planning the trip one had to choose the most suitable ride for the road trip. DBS it was.
F... the mileage and fuel economy.

As much as we would like to, we have no chance of contributing to preventing climate change. Quite the opposite.

As to DBS – the amount of heat its V12 extracts is incomprehensible. Air vents of the carbon bonnet creat heat mirage when the car is doing walking speed. Not to mention when the car is standing still.

Trip itself

Trip to Jyväskylä took almost 6 hours (return drive took 2 hours and 30 minutes). To reach that kind of figure we made a number of random stops. Including visiting small strawberry farm, local market, swimming in a lake and looking for perfect spots for taking pictures (of the car). DBS further compliments the beauty of Finnish summer. And vice versa.

Finnish roads are enjoyable. Specially driving a grand tourer that makes you smile merely by looking at it. The power (517 ps) and torque (570nm) make you forget the speed limits and the twisty and flowing roads get straightened as a result. And overtaking becomes fun – to be precise – possible.
