Did you know that all Lotus models have names starting with an E? 😊⁠

The very first Lotus road car to get an E-name was the Lotus Elite in 1957. ⁠
⁠
The founder, Colin Chapman, used the Roman numeral naming the cars, until the Mark X. The next number should have been XI, but Chapman choose to drop the Mark and also the Roman numerals, which made the car number '11'. The ‘11’ was too similar to the Roman ‘II’, and Chapman chose instead to call it the Lotus Eleven. A tradition was born.⁠
⁠
From there, Lotus kept the tradition going, from the Elise, Exige, and Evora, to Emira, Eletre, and Emeya. ⁠
⁠
Over time, it became part of Lotus' identity, like a signature, and now it is a nod to its heritage.
