Triumph TR4A IRS 1965

Triumph TR4A IRS 1965 The Triumph TR4A was built between 1965 and 1968 by the Triumph Motor Company in the United Kingdom. This version has an “IRS” badge on the rear.

The TR4A was an evolution of the TR4, updated with a new chassis. It was hoped the new, but more complex independent rear suspension would address the buying publics’ desire for more comfortable riding sports cars. It’s estimated 75% of TR4A were built with IRS. In 1965, the TR4A IRS sold in the United Kingdom for approximately £968, with wire wheels being another £36, overdrive £51, heater £13 an

d seat belts £4 each. In the United States the model sold for just under $2500 and accessory prices included: heater, $64; seat belts, $17; A.M. radio; $?; toneau cover, $35, W/S washer; $10. outside mirror;$5.50 and battery box; $5.95

In response to dealer requests, approximately 25% of TR4As were produced with a solid rear axle option (also called a live axle), similar to the earlier TR4. The TR4A was the first vehicle to ever offer an option for axle type. The new suspension eventually proved itself with the buying public and in racing, with three TR4A IRS models posting a team win and finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class at the Sebring 12-hour race of 1966. Albeit now the live axle is superior in racing due to its much better power to weight ratio, also besting the TR6.

Sunset at Great Belt - In our series "Sightseeing in you own city" we have arrived to The Great Belt Fixed Link, a multi-element fixed link crossing the Great Belt strait between the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen. It consists of a road suspension bridge (Great Belt Bridge) and a railway tunnel between Zealand and the small island Sprogø in the middle of the Great Belt, and a box-girder bridge for both road and rail traffic between Sprogø and Funen. The total length is 18 kilometres (11 mi).
Great Belt Bridge is the suspension bridge you can see on the picture and has the world's third-longest main span (1.6 km (1 mi)), and the longest outside Asia.

"Oh look a Spaceship!" - In our series "Sightseeing in your own city" we are in front of the sculpture Elia designed by Ingvar Cronhammar in Herning, Denmark. It is a large, spherical dome with four columns reaching 32 meters (105 ft). The dome, itself, has a diameter of 60 meters (200 ft). A large tube located in the center of the sculpture randomly blasts flames 8 meters (26 ft) into the air for about 25 seconds. These random bursts can occur anytime in periods of about two months and will not occur if it is too windy or if people are too close. The work was inaugurated in September 2001.
Enjoy... :-)

Classic meets modern - In our series "Sightseeing in you own city" we have arrived to a new and modern part of Aarhus, Denmark in front of the building "Isbjerget" or The Iceberg. It is a residential building in the Aarhus Docklands neighborhood in Aarhus, and is situated on the waterfront. "Isbjerget" was the first project to be completed on the former industrial port area, which is being developed into a new residential and commercial neighborhood after the Port of Aarhus was moved to new facilities to the south of the city center. The buildings are up to ten floors tall but vary in height, with the shortest building closest to the waterfront and the tallest further back. The complex is designed and modeled after floating icebergs in the north Atlantic, both in shape and color. The buildings are divided and crisscrossed into smaller units with steep crooked roofs, to ensure that all inhabitants have ideal views of the sea. Visually, the buildings display sharp triangular edges and shifting, irregular facades. The buildings are clad in white terrazzo and have balconies made of blue glass.

The fourth Regularity Rally this season - 209 km in the West of Jutland. Came in 2nd and are still 1st in the Touring Class. A lot of rain during most of the day made it more interesting as we besides keeping track of road and time, now also had water running into the car...
We managed and are proud of our result :-)
