The is an absolute must if you ever find yourself in the LA area and have just a slither of interest in automotive history. Unfortunately I had about an hour before they closed so I had to rush through the Vault and the main exhibitions but boy let me tell you, it was worth every second.

Finally had the chance to check out the first rise & shine of the year by .service after last years edition got cancelled due to the devastating fires in LA. Needless to say the vibes this time were immaculate and the rides bodacious.

From the archives: Behold this beautiful, high definition potato video from almost 20 years ago, featuring our 2004 Maserati 4200 GT Coupe doing a quick acceleration run up to the Autobahn. I hope to be able to bring this car back to its former glory one day. It really deserves it, especially given the fact it is one of the 10% delivered as a manual. And to be honest, how much do you have to pay for a manual Ferrari V8 these days?

Let me take you to a magical place. „Japan again?“ I hear you ask? Oh yeah baby. Because in this enchanted realm of plenty lies an even more sacred destination.

The Daikoku Futo parking area, situated on an island off the shores of Yokohama amidst the vast Shuto Expressway, might be one of the best spots on earth to experience live and lived automotive culture.

First off, it is hard to access if you’re not driving there yourself. Taxis or Ubers might take you there but good luck getting picked up from out there. Public transportation is also not an option. So what do you do? You rent a car for a few hours and drive there yourself. In this case a Honda S660.

Figuring out the Tokyo/Yokohama traffic system on the fly was definitely an experience. But not as hard as one might think. Also, paying double toll cause you missed an exit is just my way of giving back some love.

Coming down the exit ramp into the parking area gives you a short overview of the place and what’s in store for you. A sea of vehicles from all different corners of the world, anything goes, everything is welcome. And most of all, everything and everyone is equal. You parked your Honda Beat Kei car next to an F40? Absolutely! Lambos, lowriders and Lotus in a row? You bet.

I went there on a Sunday morning but the nocturnal meetings are said to be more on the wild side. Flights are already booked for a next time. I will see you there.

I am still not sure what color this 991 is sporting. Could it be moonstone? Is it even a PTS color or could it be just a wrap? Either way it’s absolutely striking.

You could, without a doubt, say that drifting has become a major part of the Japanese racing and automotive culture. So naturally I had to check out at least one event where this form of motorsport is being practiced in it’s purest form.

Rather coincidental, a round of was held at the Bihoku Highland Circuit while I was traveling through the Okayama prefecture. Acquiring the tickets alone was a riddle in itself to say the least.

D1 Lights is the middle of 3 tiers of the D1 drift competition with D1 Grand Prix being at the top and D1 Divisionals at the bottom. It doesn’t really matter which tier of event you attend, it is guaranteed to be a blast.
