First day of March means we talk about ! The Lifesaving Society has designated today Ice Safety Day across Canada. Going through the ice into cold water can be fatal. If you are going to drive a vehicle on the ice, check the thickness: 12 cm thick for one ATV or snowmobile, 20-30 cm for a car, and 30-38 cm thick for a truck. Even thick ice has the potential to be weak and crack. If you are knowingly driving on ice, there are steps you can take to increase your chances of getting out of a vehicle that becomes submerged: Seatbelts off, windows open, out immediately, children first. Stay safe out on the ice as the season comes to an end. our crews have been working to recover all the submerged vehicles with 2 being in such poor ice they will be removed, in the coming weeks as ice goes out on the rivers.

A Colorado Low will be impacting portions of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwest Ontario next week.

The models have been very indecisive over the track and timing of this storm for the past few days, but they now seem to be coming to some agreement that the heaviest snowfall should track across portions of Central MB and SK. Beginning Tuesday.

Temperatures will be above freezing for much of Southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan meaning any precipitation will be in the form of Rain in the South, however, for central portions of the provinces, we could see upwards of 35+cm of snowfall accumulation.
