In 1976, Bev and I were so taken by a picture of the Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera that we drove from Hudson Québec to New York City to see one. Our salesman at Porsche-Audi Manhattan was Jerry Rome, a really classy guy. He told us about two of his clients, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. He took us to the garage to see the 930 they had in stock which was already sold. It was a burgundy metallic with a cork leather interior. Breathtaking! We put $1000 down to order the identical car. MSRP $26,000. We weren’t in a position to take delivery when the car finally arrived months later, but eight years later, in 1984, 930 Turbos were not being brought into the USA but we were living in Toronto, and we got one from Downtown Fine Cars in Yorkville. It was a 930 Turbo with European Specs.
MSRP CA$80,000. Getting Big Red was inspirational and gave us the energy to pay for it.
