The responsibilities of the Sales Consultant are centered on the process of understanding and meeting guest needs. In order to sell, this person must have a basic knowledge of automotive systems and a thorough knowledge of prices, models, series, options, and other variations of the manufacturer’s product, and should also know much about the competition’s products and prices. But most of all this person should have sensitivity toward the guest and a strong interest in exceeding the guest’s expectations. This person must have polished communication skills with customers, including the ability to present the company’s products and the ability to discover, by questioning, exactly what the guest’s needs are.
The Sales Consultant is a resourceful negotiator, capable of addressing guest hesitation and resistance. Throughout the selling process, the Sales Consultant presents a positive image of the dealership, both in mode of dress and helpful and friendly attitude. The Sales Consultant in conjunction with the Sales Manager, determines personal sales goals and the methods by which those goals will be met.
Objectives:
Treat every guest as a potential lifetime purchaser, communicating a professional image that embraces honesty and concern for guest wants and needs.
Sell cars to make dealership profit, increase volume and maintain guest satisfaction.
Relate objectives and planned activities to your manager.
Deliver cars to guest. Ensure the guest understands the operating features, warranty conditions and all related documents to establish customer loyalty.
Maintain an owner follow-up and prospect development system to encourage repeat, referral and new business.
Acquaint guests with our Service Department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of the dealership’s operations.
Recognize that business is built on guest satisfaction and apply one self to ensuring guest satisfaction.
Business Skills Required:
Knowledge of sales procedures, processes, and follow-up.
Ability to meet and greet guests.
Ability to effectively relate to guests of all backgrounds and focus on guest satisfaction.
Knowledge of Company products (prices, models, series, options, warranties, colours, standard equipment, specifications)
Ability to prospect and ask for referrals.
Ability to counsel a guest (likes, dislikes, finances, needs).
