Lighting and fan harness

A simple wiring harness for lights, fan and coolant sensors. The harness is connected to the rest of the chassis harness with a Deutsch connector. The branchpoint is made with a moulded boot and sealed with epoxy.

BMW E9 engine loom

Complete engine loom for a BMW E9 2800CS with a MaxxECU race ECU. The harness is constructed using concentric twisting. The sheathing is done with DR-25, ATUM and SCL boots and every connector is labelled. Where nescessary strainrelief loops were added for increased reliability and future servicing.

Engine loom

Complete engine loom with quick disconnect for a Citroen C2 VTS engine with an ECU master EMU classic ECU. The harness is constructed using concentric twisting. The sheathing is done with DR-25, ATUM boots and completely sealed with epoxy. Every connector is labelled and strain relieved by the boots.

Steering curly cord

The original Ligier steering wheel cable on a JS2R fell apart (slide 3), so I made a new and improved one.
I made the curl myself, using concentric twisting and DR25. The connectors are potted and booted with rachem boots, epoxied and reinforced with ATUM.

P2 in class!

This weekend we got 2nd place with ! After getting pole position in class, we managed to get second place in class on raceday. We had some minor issues with the brakes and moisture in the tyres, but we managed!
My role was race engineer this weekend, managing the fuel, tyre pressures, runplan, strategy,…
We had an awesome weekend and can’t wait for the next races!

Custom fuse panel

For the complete rewire of an E36 M3, a custom fuse panel was needed. This was done to the customers wishes so it can be easily integrated with the rest of the car.

The next level has been reached!
I completed my first “race spec” harness. Autosport connector, Rachem DR25, booted, concentrically twisted and labelled! This is the level I wanted to reach. Now I need to perfect my skills and apply everything I learned to make better designs. Very proud of this, but not yet satisfied.

On to the next level!

Time to take my skillset to the next level. Working with proper Autosport connectors, Tefzel wire, concentric twisting and DMC professional tooling is something I wanted to add to my skillset for a long time. To learn this, I will be rebuilding the injector harness on my personal car to the highest level. (Never experiment on customer’s cars). The next weeks I will show the progress on this project, follow to see more!

Who am I and what do I do?
I’m Tom Van Delm, an electromechanical engineer with a masters degree in automotive engineering. On top of that, I have a huge passion for racing and motorsport engineering. My speciality is motorsport wiring and data analysis, this is what this page will be dedicated to. On my personal project and as a volunteer I’m learning the practical side of things and on the side I’m following courses and doing research to learn the theoretical side. My future plan is to make full race car wiring harnesses to a very high level. Follow my journey on this page!
