Already 25 years stick time, congratz Val.

Vandaag, exact 25 jaar geleden, ontving Commandant vlieger Valerie ‘Val’ Verkeyn haar vleugels.
Na haar opleiding op Marchetti en Alpha Jet was Valerie enkele jaren instructeur Marchetti.

In 2006 deed ze vervolgens mutatie naar Basis Koksijde om er, als eerste vrouwelijke SAR-pilote in België, tewerkgesteld te worden in het 40e smaldeel.
Het is in deze unieke setting van kameraadschap en teamwork dat ze al bijna 20 jaar haar droomjob uitoefent, eerst op de iconische Sea King, nadien als piloot-instructeur op de NH90 NFH.

✨ Hoist Challenge – SAR Meet 2025, Kbely ✨
Precision, power, and a touch of creativity! 🚁💪

Crews had to fly a weight through and around obstacles at the perfect height — without touching a thing. The grand finale? Our diver turned into a flying Michael Jordan 🏀, slam-dunking into a basket before snatching a ring from a stand to complete the mission. 🔥

This was teamwork, skill, and a bit of showmanship at its best. 💯
