We are deeply saddened to share the sudden passing of our friend, colleague, and Yarra Valley Racing Board Member, John Simmons.

“Simmo” was a long-time and passionate contributor to harness racing, not only in Yarra Glen but right across Victoria. His dedication and commitment to the sport and our community left a lasting mark.

But more than anything, Simmo will be remembered for his quick sense of humour, always up for a chat, and never short of a laugh. He had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease — the kind of bloke everyone enjoyed being around.

He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts are with John’s family, friends, and the wider racing community during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Simmo.
