SUPER ROOSTER CLASSIC KICKS OFF SEASON 2026/27

The anticipation has been building towards opening night for Queensland V8 Dirt Modifieds in Season 2026/27, with the $5000-to-win Super Rooster Classic at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway certainly providing an emphatic start to the division’s Queensland calendar.
The event this Saturday night, September 26th, running alongside the SEDL Thunder on the Downs for Sprintcars, provides V8 Dirt Modifieds with an opportunity to perform and entertain on a stage that will attract the attention and viewing of thousands of speedway fans.
The list of nominations is led by the driver with a near perfect record at the Toowoomba venue, Seiton Young. The GZM 4x4 & Performance / GW Racing Australia #1 Bicknell is looking to make it 4 wins in a row at Toowoomba. The hat trick of victories span across a Super Rooster Classic, the Champion of Champions race on Ultimate Pink Night last February, and the crown jewel of Young’s career so far, the Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship, held in May earlier this year. Safe to say, the A1 will lead the form guide.
The return of ‘The Dude’ Paul Morris aboard the Norwell Motorplex backed Q67 is a welcome return amongst the Dirt Modified ranks. Although picking up honours of ‘Rookie of the Year’ at last season’s DMA QLD/NSW joint presentation night, his experience in motor racing is nearly unrivalled on the asphalt. However, he’s looking for a strong return on the dirt at Toowoomba amongst a strong field of cars, after a podium finish in his most recent meeting at Maryborough, rounded out last season for the Q67.
Whilst Ray Klarich; the Super Rooster himself; will not be behind the wheel at the event he so passionately supports, race fans can look forward to seeing Zac McDonald piloting the Q95 Super Rooster entry. Parking to the side, the affectionately dubbed “Big John” V51 Dirt Modified, that Zac has steered in recent outings, the exciting joint venture between Klarich and McDonald provides plenty of promise, with Zac bagging top-five finishes in 5 in the past 7 major Dirt Modified events in Toowoomba, including a 3rd place in the Australian Championship in May.
The strength of Queensland Dirt Modifieds is highlighted with the inclusion of timeless names such as Kevin Britten, David Clark, and Chris Corbett, who are certain to be contenders to take home the $5000 winners' cheque.
Whilst the season is only just dawning for Queensland Dirt Modifieds, this weekend’s running of the Super Rooster Classic is set to be one for the ages. An event which never disappoints, is not only a highlight of the Toowoomba Speedway calendar, but for Dirt Modified, and V8 speedway racing fans alike. The action is guaranteed. The winner: we’ll find out Saturday night.
